Welcome to The Aging Mask podcast with Joanne Demers.I am a certified Ayurveda Health Counselor and Instructor.Ayurveda is a natural system of medicine, originated in India over 5,000 years ago, it means "knowledge of life"Here on The Aging Mask Podcast I will teach you in an online classroom format, and will share with you how to implement the many simple tools and practices of Ayurveda into your daily routine which are guaranteed to create health, wellness and happiness for you daily.Ayurveda has been one of the biggest gifts I have received and I want to give this gift to you.In todays episode I explain the differences between the words Envy and Jealousy.Envy is "Material", envy occurs between two people; "I want what you have"!Jealousy is "Relationship formed"- jealousy tends to have a very negative connotation, and jealousy involves a third party, most often seen as a rival for affection or attention.Envy is one of the 7 Deadly Sins: Pride, Greed, Lust, Gluttony, Wrath, Sloth & ENVY.Envy is a deadly sin because it kills gratitude, it kills contentment, and it kills happiness. It is an emotion that occurs within each of us when we lack another's qualities, skills, achievements, or possessions, and either desire it, or wishes the other lacked them. It is a pain we feel at the sight of another's good fortune.Envy minimizes YOUR blessings and YOUR gifts and is the art of counting the other fellows blessings instead of your own.Jealousy stems from your greatest insecurities, jealousy is a negative volatile emotion that feeds off our insecurities and self confidence.Jealousy is a very complex emotion that encompasses feelings ranging from suspicion, to rage, fear humiliation and it strikes people of all ages, genders & sexual orientations, and is most typically aroused when a person perceives a threat to a valued relationship from a third party, which may be real or imagined.' Today I am going to share with you the three most important words in Ayurveda; AGNI-AMA and OJAS.According to Ayurveda, the secret to health lies in the Digestive System, and considers good digestion "the giver of health".The key to Health or Disease is AGNI. AGNI is the Sanskrit word for "Fire" and is the metabolic power, digestive fire, responsible for extracting nourishment and eliminating toxins. Agni is one of the most important principles of Ayurveda. A primary sign of good health is that your Agni is burning bright, that is, you are digesting your food efficiently, distributing all the necessary nutrients to every cell, and burning off waste products without leaving deposits of toxins.AMA is the exact opposite of Agni; when our digestive fire is weak or irregular, we are unable to completely digest our food, emotions, experiences and information. As a result, our body accumulates what is known as AMA or toxic residue, residue that accumulates in the body. Ama blocks the free flow of energy and information throughout our body and shows up as tissue sludge, a foul smelling sticky substance, such as excess fat, plaque, and cholesterol that clog the major channels of the body.AMA is the underlying cause of all disease.OJAS is the Ayurvedic term for "VIGOR" aka "The Fountain of Youth". Ojas is your vital life force energy. It is the "juice" that invigorates us and is reflected by our inner strength, immunity, vibrancy, vitality and libido. It is the most concentrated essence of nutrients & energy in the body!Learn how stoke your AGNI, rid yourself of AMA and enhance your OJAS.By cleaning up your diet you will clean up your life!Namaste.Follow along on Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/theagingmask

This class is a story of emotional well-being and how emotions that have been repressed don't go away.I tell a personal story about adopting a dog, and how that selfish decision affected my emotional well-being, and what lessons I learned from it.Ayurveda teaches that emotional well-being is essential to our health. As a natural life force, emotions are intended to flow freely through our body mind, then dissipate once we have fully experienced them and assimilated their valuable lesson.Surrender & Release:When you hold on tightly to a part of your life that's not working, it has no room to heal. Wether you are unhappy with your love life, career, finances, marriage, health or home life, you need to let go.If you hang on to these aspects of your life because of guilt or fear or "what ifs" then the situation will only worsen. However; if you are willing to open your hands and allow the situation to be freed, one of two situations will occur:Either it will be washed away from you and replaced by a better situation, or the situation will heal in a miraculous way.DO NOT try and control the outcome of your troubling situation. Let go.Follow along on Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/theagingmask

In this episode I explain how I chose the name of this podcast, and discuss several tools to slow down the aging, wrinkle, process.from Hydration, movement, meditation, sleep, oils, teas, and herbs. I read a Meditation titled "Wrinkles".Lines on the face, tattoos of aging.Life is proved upon the bodyLike needle -jabs from a blind machine. The older one gets, the more on is conscious of Aging. We can barely remember childhood innocence and exuberance. We are surprised by the youthful vitality and unmarked face when we see earlier photos of ourselves. When we look in the mirror, we reluctantly acknowledge "the aging mask" . It seems there is no escaping the marks of life. Every experience that we have, everything that we do and think is registered upon us a surly as the steady embroidery of a tattoo artist. But to a large degree, the pattern and picture that will emerge is up to us. If we go to a tattoo artist, it is we who select the picture. In life , it is we who select what we will become by the actions we perform. There is no reason to go through life thoughtlessly, to let accidents shape us. That is like allowing oneself to be tattooed by a blind man. How can you help but turn out old and ugly?Wether we emerge beautiful or ugly is our sole responsibility.Follow along on Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/theagingmask
