Queer identity, people-pleasing, and finding your voice
This week's episode was inspired by a quote from Alexander Leon that speaks to how queer people come to understand and form our identities. In a tweet from 2020, Leon wrote, " Queer people don't grow up as ourselves, we grow up playing a version of ourselves that sacrifices authenticity to minimize humiliation & prejudice. The massive task of our adult lives is to unpick which parts of ourselves are truly us & which parts we've created to protect us."    I think that this can have a profound effect on us, our work, and the way we choose to show up in the world. One of the results of this can be people-pleasing. People-pleasing can be a way to construct an illusion of safety in our lives but also keeps us from finding our true voice. In this episode, you will learn some of the ways I have scrutinized my own thoughts about myself and how it helps me to continue showing up in service to my community.       Link to Aleander's tweet. In this episode, I am talking about the power of leaning into your limitations. We spend so much time trying to fix our flaws, and we are doing ourselves a disservice. I share some examples of how I have done this, and also how to play to our strengths so that we can create with more ease. Episode 30 The Dance Coach Podcast Are you a starving artist? Connect with me on Instagram Check out my website  Sign up for a free consult.

Heartstopper, Heartache, and Positive Queer Representation
In this episode, I am discussing the impact that positive queer representation can have through the lens of my emotional reaction to the Netflix show Heartstopper, which is adapted from the graphic novels of Alice Oseman. Queer representation in the mainstream media has grown so much since I was the age of the charters in this tale. But what came up for me watching this was very unexpected. I am going to share with you how I worked through the emotions and also all of the reasons why I think this show can be an example for all of us on the importance of sharing our queer creations with the world.
