Welcome to season 2!In this episode I explore what caused me to burn out in 2021 – resulting in an abrupt ending to season 1 of No People Pleasing Zone. And discuss how I had to double down, and lean into, the one essential thing that helps build and maintain self-trust. Self-trust is essential for overcoming fears and achieving goals. Relying on external push-culture sources for motivation is not only unhelpful, but can be down-right detrimental. Developing trust in oneself is particularly important for those of us with people pleasing patterns. When you cultivate self-trust daily you become attuned to your own inner voice, you break out of your mental cages, and taking steps towards your ambitions becomes easier. So, the question is – are you doing the one essential thing that helps you create and maintain self-trust?I hang out on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/ElizabethMartinChan/and IG @ez.martinchan First outro for season 2.CTA social media - hang at FB or IG subscribeleave a 5 star review

What is the single most important thing my audience needs to know about self-love? That’s the question I asked fellow presenters at last year’s Women Inspiring Women Conference. With the theme of Self Love: I am Enough You are Enough, it seemed a great opportunity to collect some thoughts on a topic that can be a bit difficult to clearly define. Today’s episode is from my interview vault. I’m returning from an extended podcast break, and I’m making a few tweaks so I ensure I stay firmly in my lane. I’m stopping that People Pleasing Rabbit Hole pattern of looking over my shoulder to determine if I’m doing it right.Turns out, the relisten was nourishing to me. And, was even in alignment with what I’m creating right now. But that unveiling is still a few weeks away. Here are the deets on connecting with the contributors. Asked recently if it is always wrong to be a People Pleaser – I realized that the question provides an opportunity to dive deep. In this episode, I explore motivation, how People Pleasing isn’t who we are, and the self-judgment of the inner critic. The motivation behind People Pleasing action is important. We can either be seeking acceptance or come from a place that resonates with the core of who we are. Only we can determine if we are People Pleasing – and that sometimes takes some space for self-reflection.People Pleasing is something that occurs because we are stuck in a place. It is something we do because of a scaffolding we’ve constructed down the People Pleasing Rabbit Hole that makes us believe People Pleasing is necessary. Shifting perspective allows us to release ownership of People Pleasing as a part of who we are.Sometimes, when we see that we are People Pleasing, we allow our Inner Critic to show up. And that is when we judge ourselves. This is when it is so important that we take to radical self-love and self-acceptance. Acceptance opens the door for different choices today, tomorrow, or down the road.About the Host:Disruptor. Podcaster. Do you ever find yourself returning to the same painful feelings over and over? It’s your very own version of Ground Hog Day. Maybe you find yourself using the common coping mechanism of numbing out just to avoid those feelings. In today’s episode, we learn about the differences between emotions and feelings, and we identify the sweet spot where we can play with influencing our feelings. Emotions are physiological sensations experienced in the body. They come before feelings and are the raw data experienced in the body.Feelings are what happen as we integrate emotions. Since feelings are the integration point of raw physiological data – it is the place where we can learn how to shift perspectives. Learn how to tweak how emotions are interpreted. We can do this by bringing conscious awareness to our feelings and employing radical self-love, non-judgmental acceptance, and a sense of curious playfulness to our feelings. We can’t avoid emotions, but we can influence how we feel the feels.About the Host:Disruptor. How does one approach those things that are desires, but drain energy levels? In today’s episode, I get vulnerable and explore how I’ve entered a pattern of allowing the No People Pleasing Zone to drain my energy and inhibit my ability to show up in my fullness. I identify what I desire, and struggle through the drawbacks to my current approach. Over the years, the most important lesson I’ve learned about the People Pleasing Rabbit Hole is the need to shift perspective. Listen as I share my experience of tapping into the birth-life-death-rebirth cycle, to get comfortable with where I’m sitting right now and recommit my energy to the work of climbing out of the No People Pleasing Rabbit Hole.About the Host:Disruptor. The holidays are quickly approaching – or if you are in the US – they’re here. Humans stuck down, what I call, The People Pleasing Rabbit Hole are often stressed, depressed, angry, frustrated, filled with resentment, and neglect self-care. Experts suggest setting boundaries. But, setting boundaries can be really difficult when what we desire most is connection and belonging. Boundaries can feel counter to our desires. But if we develop boundaries that naturally arise from a place of knowing our own needs, they can be easier to maintain. In today’s episode, we learn the strategy of AWW – Awareness, Wants and Whys. AWW allows us to step away from DOing all the things and get intentionally clear on what’s going on internally. We also learn about RP – Realistic and Power. RP helps us to develop actions that come from a place of AWW, by getting clear on what we realistically can control, and exercising our personal power in holiday situations. Take a listen and learn how these strategies can help you through the holiday season. And, I’ll even teach you an embodied practice that allows you to let hurtful words fly past you in social settings.Influential sources:David Weinstock – executive director of Liminal Somatics. Microaggressions aren’t just found in racism, sexism, or towards LGBTQ2 communities. Found anywhere power structures place one group of people above others, microaggressions are based in community biases. They are accumulative and help to enforce status quos. Humans stuck down, what I call, The People Pleasing Rabbit Hole understand microaggressions as cues to how they should BE in the world.Microaggressions send impactful messaging on a verbal level, but significantly also on the body level. Because we believe body-level messaging far more than they believe in verbal messaging, we need to recognize somatic microaggressions. Then we can begin to break down the scaffolding that creates and maintains The People Pleasing Rabbit Hole.Influential sources:Embodied Social Justice by Rae Johnson. What is “resilience”? When we take a look at the meaning of resilience in the context of physics, we begin to really tease out the nuance of what resilience is. So often when we talk about resilience, we are really talking about something else – survival. There is a significant difference between resilience and survival – and the two often get wrapped up into one. Survival techniques are what we develop down The People Pleasing Rabbit Hole, while resilience is a key to climbing out of The People Pleasing Rabbit Hole. So, it is worth knowing the difference. Resilience isn’t just something we need on an individual level. When we operate through the lens of survival rather than resilience in our systems, in our society, we lack the backbone which allows for change, development, and advancement. It can all start on an individual level – when we challenge ourselves to flex our resilience muscles.
