The purpose of Joan is to draw light towards mental health - to bring awareness and real stories to the trauma that most every one endures at some point in life. From depression and post partum depression, to anxiety and eating disorders, to PTSD, the loss of loved ones, domestic abuse, sexual abuse, addiction... The list goes on and on. Joan is a place of honesty and connection. If you're struggling and feeling alone, I hope this podcast helps you to understand that you are heard, you are not alone, and that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Ep. 09 - Joan x Nicole Dabeau - On Sexual Assault, Postpartum Depression, Bullying, Loss, and Turning Darkness into Light
In this episode, Kelly is speaking with Nicole Dabeau on the several traumas and mental health challenges she has faced through life - as many of us do. Nicole touches on the loss of a childhood caretaker, a loss that shaped the rest of her life. Followed by teenage rebellion, being sexually assaulted by a high school acquaintance and the bullying that ensued. She soon found herself living in Africa, and then in LA working as a TV correspondent, traveling all over the world. A couple of years later, Nicole became unexpectedly pregnant, gave birth, and then fell into a deep depression in which she legitimized her suicide. Nicole is now a single mother, and starting a foundation called The Fem to help and connect women from all walks of life. Ep. 08 - Joan x Jena Sophia, Psych-K Facilitator - On PCOS, Endometriosis, Anxiety, Medication, and Fully Healing
Today, Kelly is speaking with Jena Sophia. Jena is a Psych-K facilitator, Reiki Master, and flower essence maker. She began experiencing anxiety when she was a young child, and as mystery symptoms got worse, she was put on more and more medication. It was at 15 when she was diagnosed with PCOS and Endometriosis, which resulted in more medication. At one point she was on a total of 7 different pharmaceuticals. She became incredibly ill, and dealt with years of traumatizing symptoms. Listen as she tells us about hitting her breaking point, how she found Psych-K, began to heal her mind, and went cold turkey off all her medication.
