In this episode of Joan, Kelly speaks with her friend Janessa Leone, an accessories designer based in Los Angeles. Janessa unexpectedly lost her father, whom she considered her best friend and soulmate, in February of 2016, and her life was consequently flipped upside down. Shortly after her father's passing, her beloved dog passed away. She talks about her journey through depression and grief, the dreams where her father came to her, her anger with God, her decision to take medication, and the cyclical nature of grief. She also speaks about how to take mental health days at work, how to handle waves of grief, and how to be gentle on yourself through the process.
