Your (not so) Anonymous Journal
Your (not so) Anonymous Journal
Sarah Laux
When we think of health and wellness we often think of eating right, staying active and practicing positive habits that will help us grow into the people we want to be. But something that is so often missed within the conversation of health, wellness and healing is actually talking about the hard stuff and getting support for the shit that keeps us up at night. Everyone's life is one big anonymous journal where pieces of ourselves stay hidden because of the mental health stigma. This podcast is dedicated to opening up those journals and letting people have a safe place to tell their stories.
People Do Care
Back in college, I thought nobody cared about my traumatic experience. I never gave anyone a chance to show they do care, and of the people I did tell my story to, lashed out, gaslit me and walked out of my life. The unfortunate truth is that so many people who struggle with mental health have had memories with someone who's treated them like shit for struggling. It makes you never want to open up or tell your story again, and overtime that builds up in a bad way. Over the last couple months I've opened up to at least 4-5 more people in my life who have showed me that they do care about my story, and me. It took me years to realize that there are people who can be a safe space for you. So join me in this episode as I share my FOUR tips on how to become more open and owning your story and who you are as a person, regardless of what reactions you get from others.

Together we were able to work through things I've never verbalized to anyone in order to release emotions that I never let come up.  If you are someone who has tried to work on your own physical and/or emotional symptoms yet nothing seems to be helping...please give this episode a listen! 26 Lessons
In light of turning 26 this past week, a friend of mine suggested doing a solo episode on 26 lessons I've learned over the last 3 years of my healing journey. It's always crazy when you look back at who you were a couple years ago and see how far along you've come in terms of your personal growth and development. A few things I talk about in this episode are feeling like my past choices/past situations used to define who I am as a person, constantly feeling jealous of everyone else's blessings and disregarding my own, expressing how much self awareness and emotional intelligence has helped me live a more intentional life, and a TON more.

My Mental Health Journey
No matter how old you are, experiencing something traumatic changes you as a person. It changes your nervous system, the choices you make, the thoughts you have and really everything around you. My sophomore year of college, I experienced something traumatic that ultimately ended up with me taking the dark way out to cope. Telling my friends and family that I’m totally fine, getting involved in a toxic relationship along with frequent drinking and hard drug use. It took me a year and a half to finally ask for help and seek a therapist. Although I had a horrible experience, it helped me find hope for the first time in a long time. Join me in this episode as I break down the last 6 years of my mental health journey and the choices I made to find peace with my mental health again.

Reminders you need to hear right now
The other day I was scrolling on Instagram and found a carousel post titled "reminders you need to hear right now." So naturally I texted a good handful of my friends to send me a reminder they think people need to hear so I could turn it into an episode. I love reminders because they can act as that one 'thing' that someone needs to hear in order to pull themselves out of a dark place. Reminders are there to remind your brain that you are in control, on your own timeline, doing what YOU are supposed to be doing right now. And most importantly, they remind you that you are not alone and everybody goes through the ups and downs of life. So without further ado, please enjoy this episode because my friends had some damn good things to say.

A life update
We should know by now that whatever we see on social media is only a small glimpse of what's actually going on in someone's life. And for me? It might seem like I'm successfully running my own business, starting new hobbies such as this podcast, going to the gym daily and keeping up with a fun social life. But the truth is? I'm overwhelmed. I finally feel like I'm living more within my purpose but in the same breath I feel so behind and not even close to where I should be. Basically, life is overwhelming AF for anyone trying to work on their career, relationships, financials, health, etc. So if you've been feeling like life is kicking your ass, listen to this episode because I guarantee you we're in the same boat

Approaching 2023 Differently
Just because everyone else is setting big goals in 2023 doesn't mean you have to. I don't know about you, but hearing about people's new years resolutions overwhelms the hell out of me. Like, why can't we just go with the flow? The thought of adding new goals to 2023 on top off the one's I've yet to achieve is absolutely sending me. So I thought of something I could do a little differently this year: strive to break negative habits that held me back last year. Habits such as people pleasing, letting up on my boundaries, thinking too much into the future, etc. Because these habits that I've picked up along my way of life are some of the reasons why achieving my goals can be really hard. So why not try to kick em out of my life sooner than later?  If you're someone like me who would way rather take some negative things off your plate rather than add to it...join me in this episode :)
