What is purpose? What is your purpose? How does one get to the point of understanding purpose? These are some of the questions raised and explored on this episode. Tap in, and sit back while I speak to Diversity Spark founder and podcast host of Two Wives and a Spark, Rachel Rosen ( her wife Lia was previously featured on the episode Embracing Play). This conversation is full of deep exploration of how we've had shifts around stillness, creating meaning, and learning to trust ourselves towards a path of understanding our purpose. In our journey of self love, I believe its important to be able to be connected to mind, body and spirit. Mind and body get quite a bit of focus, but not necessarily spirit. In this episode, I read excerpts from my book, The 5 Commandments of Self Love reviewing the 4th commandment: Honor Thy Spirit. Of course, what would a discussion about shifts be without story time! Take a journey with me, as I share about a powerful spiritual experience I had while embarking on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Whenever we go through a season of change externally, there is often an internal change happening or right around the corner, but we're not always conscious of it. Who you are is constantly shifting, however you may continue to see yourself as a previous version of self. What does it really mean to embrace your new identity? On this episode I'm joined by mompreneur and owner of Lustress Hair Co., Jennifer Jaiyeola, and we're chatting about how we are constantly working to embracing change, and who we are as a result of it. In this solo episode, I discuss shifts that I have experienced around grief, and the gifts I feel like I have received. Loss is a normal part of our everyday lived experiences, but we often don't embrace loss as an opportunity to receive more. When we release attachment to people, roles, aspects of our identities, and experiences, its making more room for our spirits to operate in something higher or more aligned. I'm releasing this episode on the weekend of Mother's Day in the US, in dedication of my mother who has passed, but also as an ode to those who may be experiencing any type of grief themselves. Conversations about death and grief are not normalized as much as they should be in the US, so this is an effort to have a different type of conversation, which you will hopefully take something away from. Excited to share this bonus episode with you! Its a bit personal, and I'm sure necessary for someone. If you battle with a loud critical voice, you're in for some good nourishment. In this episode, I'm opening up about my recent emotional journey in participating in the 2021 TedxUCDavis conference. I'll be sharing about my shifts around embracing imperfection, and understanding your value, deservingness, and enough=-ness in light of your imperfection. We know there is no such thing as perfection, but our minds, media, and the world around us, trick us to believe otherwise sometimes. Experiencing imperfection is vulnerable, and its important to validate your emotions around it, but also lean in to the opportunity of beauty that's available. What does flow mean to you? What does it look like to trust yourself? To trust life? How does allowing yourself to surrender and not always be in control feel? How connected do you feel to your body? Are you aware of when your body is telling you to stop, slow down, or give it what it needs? This episode is all about mindful connection with the body, and learning about yourself through the signals the body communicates with you. In this episode, I'm joined by Sondrina Bullitt, a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist and owner of The Healing Space in Los Angeles Ca. (https://www.thehealingsp-ce.com/), and we're discussing our own shifts around our connections with our body. We spend some time exploring the difference between Eastern/Indigenous medicine vs Western medicine, and how folks could benefit from understanding more about the latter.

How do you feel about speaking up for yourself? For your wants? For your needs? For your boundaries? Advocating for self whether in a public or private setting can often be a very uncomfortable experience, which can often lead to avoidance. Do you know that your voice matters? Silencing yourself and minimizing what matters to you, can feel very dishonoring. In this episode, I sit with Jamila Cambridge, Esq. who as a lawyer, is no stranger to advocacy work, however has had her own journey and shifts around learning how to assert herself in her personal life. We both talk about what happens when "finally gets their voice" and may become reckless and callous with the empowerment, which is often what people experience. If you were raised in a home of abuse, neglect, dysfunction, control, manipulation, or critique, you may want to grab some chamomile or lavender tea or oils for this. This week, I'm reading more excerpts from my book, The 5 Commandments of Self Love, and we're discussing how your "wounded inner child" can impact your self love journey. We all have an inner child, that unconscious child-like state that exists within us, however some of us have a wounded inner child that carries shame, sadness, guilt, anger, and sorrow. We discuss what shapes the wounded inner child, how to treat and re-parent yourself when its activated, and what to keep in mind in order to embrace, honor, and accept yourself.
