WELCOME to The WELLNESS FOURplay Podcast Episode 30: The Power of Prayer We KNOW that Knowledge is the “foreplay” to your Wellness, so we want to make sure you are equipped to optimize yours!  1. WHAT IS PRAYER? A solemn request for help or expression of thanks addressed to a higher power. A conversation between you and your creator that includes you talking and, through meditation, listening. 2. WHO ARE WE TALKING TO WHEN WE PRAY? God, our creator. In Genesis, the first book of the Bible, we see that God created everything: light, earth, water, air, plants, animals, and humans. God created the entire world out of nothing. And everything that God created, God called “good.” God saved the best for the last day of creation; he created man and woman in his own image. He is unchanging, love, faithful and knowable. Prayer is a way that we can get to KNOW God. 3. WHY DO WE PRAY? For most it is when something is hard or has gone wrong, a family member is sick, lost a job, or we need direction. For others, they have developed a relationship with God and have a prayer in their heart at all times, living their lives through His direction. We pray when others we care about are in need. 4. ARE ALL PRAYERS ANSWERED? YES! Be grateful and praise Him when they are answered the way you had hoped for. Be looking the door to open for your next opportunity IF it seems your prayer was not answered. When I prayed for an answer to my health struggles and asked God to show me WHY what we were doing wasn’t working... the answer I received was definitely not what I expected. He is always working things out for good in our lives. We want to personally invite you back July 5th for Episode 31 where we will be talking about HEALING! I will have had my explant surgery (for more see Episode 22) and be 6 weeks into my healing. No matter where you are on your prayer journey, we would also love to ask for prayers for a successful procedure with rapid and complete healing with resolution of all symptoms!! Episode 29: Hydration
Welcome to The WELLNESS FOURPLAY Podcast Episode 29: Hydration Are you THIRSTY??? 🤔 Then you may already be.... 1. WHY IS BEING HYDRATED SO IMPORTANT?  There are three stages to water regulation of the body in the different phases of life: Fetus, Growing and Aging phases. Drinking enough water each day is crucial for many reasons: to regulate body temperature, keep joints lubricated, prevent infections, deliver nutrients to cells, and keep organs functioning properly. Up to 60% of the human adult body is water. The brain and heart are composed of 73% water, and the lungs are about 83% water. The skin contains 64% water, muscles and kidneys are 79%, and even the bones are watery: 31%. Being well-hydrated also improves sleep quality, cognition, and mood. 2. WHAT CAN CAUSE DEHYDRATION?  Diarrhea, Vomiting , Sweat, Diabetes: frequent urination and excessive thirst are among the early symptoms. Burns. Your skin is a protective barrier for the body and is responsible for regulating fluid loss. Burned skin cannot prevent fluid from leaving the body. Inability or failure to drink water. 3. HOW CAN YOU TELL YOU ARE DEHYDRATED AND WHAT COULD HAPPEN?  Early signs: you are thirsty, reduced urine and darkening of the urine (smelly). Progressing dehydration signs: dry mouth, lightheadedness, muscle cramps, and heart palpitations. If you don't get enough water, hard stools and constipation could be common side effects, along with abdominal pain and cramps. Dull skin. Dehydration shows up on your face in the form of dry, ashy skin that seems less radiant, plump and elastic. Fatigue. 4. WHAT ARE THE BEST WAYS TO STAY HYDRATED? Drink ½ your body weight in water in ounces daily (i.e. 150 pounds = 75 ounces). Increase during the summer months or if you exercise frequently. Don’t wait to drink water until you are thirsty. Carry a reusable water bottle, then you will always have one. Infuse your water with fruits and vegetables. Replenish frequently, after using the restroom or exercising. Track it using a hydration app. Pay attention to your urine color. If darker than normal (slight yellow tint), HYDRATE! Using plants and plant compounds to optimize the performance of your DNA. 2. HOW CAN NUTRIGENOMICS BENEFIT YOU? Utilizing the knowledge of Nutrigenomics, we can look beyond all the talk of nutrition fads and advertising that is everywhere.
