Welcome back to TURTZED!
Have you ever been labeled as something when in reality that isn't even 1% of who you are? Have you ever been labeled as the other one?
Join me in the first part of my coming out journey as I discuss hiding my authenticity, giving up on things that brought me joy, my relationship with my brother and coming out to my parents and so much more to come in part two.
Episode Takeaways:
-
We are all different - and we don't need to hide those traits which make us unique in order to fit in. If we celebrate our differences without making comparisons, we can avoid inflicting pain and feelings of inadequacy on others.
-
When you conceal parts of yourself in order to fit in, you can get trapped in a role that doesn't feel right or natural, and which will cause pain and suffering. Seek to spend time with people who value you and might, if given the chance, celebrate you for your authenticity.
-
Rather than surrendering to the fear of exposing your authentic self, if you ask for support when you need it, you might find that your fears were unfounded and you may receive support and love instead of rejection.
-
When you hide parts of yourself for fear of being rejected by people you love, you do not give them the chance to love and support you fully.
-
When someone is revealing something deeply personal, we may not know how hard it was to be authentic, and we should treat that moment with care and compassion - sometimes just being present is enough.
