Welcome back to TURTZED!

Join me for the part two of my coming out journey as I discuss the pain of hiding my authenticity, dissociating  from emotions and the dangers that come with that. I also will discuss for the first time, the depression I experienced and how that affected the people in my life. I will share what I learned from my experiences as well as my hope for the future of this podcast.

Episode Takeaways:

  1. Respect and acknowledge your feelings, even if it doesn't seem like anyone else holds your view, because the others may not be being authentic.

  2. Our moments of desperation and struggle are not as hidden as we think they are.  People who love us can intuit where we are.

  3. Sometimes those who put on the bravest face, seem the most put together and are helping others, can often be the ones struggling in silence.  If you are able to create a safe space for open dialog, it can provide small and crucial details that might help you to understand how that person is suffering.

  4. Having difficult conversations can lead to understanding. We cannot know what people are thinking unless we ask - and without asking, we might attribute feelings that are based on inaccurate presumptions and conclusions. Don't assume that you know what people are thinking or what motivates them - instead, come from a place of curiosity and, with kindness, ask a question to start an honest conversation - which may replace your upset and uncertainty with relief and comfort.
