Proudly Being the Disappointing Child
Hello, Hello!! And welcome back to the nour you know podcast. Well, Nour has been gone for a bit. She moved, finished a grad class, and has been carrying guilt the weight of 100 camels on her back. Pleasing an Arab-American family --at least her’s-- isn't easy, to say the least. You may be forced to hide major parts of your life from them to maintain their approval or their "unconditional love". You may ruminate over the thought of their disapproval, anger, and lack of support of your decisions. You may feel the urge to question your decision-making and switch to autopilot, assuming your parents must always know what is best. Today, Nour wants to share the internal conflict that has been replaying in her head for the past four months, and how she eventually decided to be honest about something she knew would alter her family dynamic forever. To all those who are dealing with making a decision you know is best for you but won't get the approval of your family, she wants to reach out to you personally and let you know your emotions: fear, distress, anxiety, and whatever have you are valid. If you need someone to vent to or a shoulder to cry on, her DMs are open. You’ll get through this in one piece, stronger and freer than ever. She divulges how the global pandemic has negatively impacted her and hopes you find peace and comfort that you are not alone in battling your personal demons post covid. But also she wants to give you a friendly reminder that the sh*t we feel is a privileged problem as opposed to what the majority of the world is dealing with, and we have got it REALLY good.  Also, she will miss the mask mandate in grocery stores... I Tried a Sensory Deprivation Tank
Hello, Hello! Today, Nour spills the beans on her sensory deprivation tank experience. First starting with the history and how she discovered float tanks, she then decided to get extra creative in this episode and rather than just tell you all about her experience she uses sound effects and to make you feel like you are there. Fancy Schmancy if she says so herself. Hope you all enjoy and be sure to let Nour know your experience if you try a sensory deprivation tank! I'm Going to Sound Like a "Pick Me" Girl But...
Hello, hello! Today Nour shares her honest opinions on why she sounds like a "pick me" girl. First the lighthearted ones and then later she dives into the heavy topics --did you expect anything else?-- of feminism and why there's no big bad patriarchy to dismantle. She talks about the biological differences between men and women, the simpson's paradox, and the gender equality paradox to make her case that there are better ways to improve the lives of women rather than letting them fall in a victim complex.  Homeless Period Project: https://www.homelessperiodproject.org/ The Marshall Project: https://www.themarshallproject.org/records/5342-feminine-hygiene-products-in-prisons-jails Harvard Study: https://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2008/10/financial-risk-taking-behavior-is-associated-with-higher-testosterone/ Ted Talk "Brave, Not Perfect": https://www.ted.com/talks/reshma_saujani_teach_girls_bravery_not_perfection?language=en Gender Pay Gap: https://www.forbes.com/sites/karinagness/2016/04/12/dont-buy-into-the-gender-pay-gap-myth/?sh=5751d0a42596 Gender Pay Gap Part 2: https://thesuffolkjournal.com/28647/opinion/the-gender-wage-gap-is-a-myth/ Gender Equality Paradox: http://eprints.leedsbeckett.ac.uk/id/eprint/4753/6/symplectic-version.pdf&hl=es&sa=X&scisig=AAGBfm0xrcWbSjaOYwGIpValYtXniLgxIA&nossl=1&oi=scholarr --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thenouryouknow/support

How I Learned to Argue w/o Being an Ass
Hello, Hello! Today, Nour is sharing her tips and tricks on how to argue and converse about things that matter. It all started in the debate team.... where she was a terrible debater. But thanks to her terrible debating -- according to high school standards which doesn't mean much-- she was able to discover something significantly more valuable than "winning" an argument. A conversation about anything touchy with anyone. She hopes her experience and lessons help you enrich your conversation with your friends...or maybe even strangers if you're up for it.  Cassie Jay Ted Talk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WMuzhQXJoY&ab_channel=TEDxTalks Article on Jordan Peterson: https://bigthink.com/21st-century-spirituality/jordan-peterson-conversation-requires-listening-not-just-talking --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thenouryouknow/support
