Today we are going over the changes United States Soccer Federation have made to the Laws of the Game for youth games. There are some subtle changes to things such as the ball size, amount of time played, how overtime works and more. 

We are finishing the Laws of the game in this podcast by going over Laws 15, 16, and 17 which are Throw-ins, Goal kicks and Corner kicks. These Laws go over the procedures of each and things that to if something happens during them. I also go over the rest of the contents in the back of the Laws and the rule changes for the year. Today we are discussing Laws 13 and 14, free kicks and penalty kicks. Law 13 establishes the different kinds of free kicks and the procedures for the kick. Law 14 establishes how penalty kicks are taken and what kind of things are permitted during the kick.

Today we are covering Laws 7 and 8 which are the duration of the match and the start and restart of play. Law 7 covers how long each half is, the amount of time allowed during halftime, and more. Today we are going over the Law 4 that cover the referee and his responsibilities, duties, gear and more. We are also covering Law 5 which goes over all the other match officials that are part of the game as well. Law 5 also breaks down the responsibilities of these officials. 

Today we are going over Laws 3 and 4. Law 3 covers the players and includes things like the number of players on the field, substitutions, changing the goalkeeper, and how to handle extra persons on the field and if a goal is scored with an extra person on the field. Law 4 covers the players' equipment. It covers things as what they can and cannot wear, what can be on their equipment as far as slogans, pics and more, and how to handle the situation if they violate any rules. Today we are talking about what's in Laws 1 and 2. These laws lay out The Field and The Ball. Law 1 gives you things such as the size of the field, how to mark the field and such. Law 2 gives you the size of the ball, weight, and pressure of the ball. We also go over the stuff that they have prior to the Laws.

Today we are talking about what I feel is the most misunderstood rule in soccer, offsides. When I go to youth games and watch I always see people calling for offsides that are in no position to call it and often call for it when it was clearly not even close to an offside offense. This is one of the most difficult calls in the game and there is a reason that there is a linesman on both sides of the field whose main job it is to look out for and make this call. So, lets discuss it and try to help you understand it better.
