9: Loss of a parent through a child's eyes with former NLL player Mitch McMichael
Welcome to the in your PODcket podcast, presented by Choice Asset Groups and Mackie Real Estate. Chances are, a lot of who you are is associated with those who raised you— if you’re like majority of Canadians, those people are your parents. Who might you be if one of those people couldn’t be there for you? This has, is, and will continue to be the unfortunate reality for some, so long as there’s life on this planet. While loss shapes us to take different forms, the fact remains that we are malleable, and resilient. We were always bound to assume different forms in our own pursuit of success— a term my former mentor refers to as being an ‘inside job’. Mitch McMichael know this intimately. He lost his father at a young age after battling leukaemia. Mitch shares his experiences going through various life milestones; providing those who have walked in footprints similar to his, perhaps a different perspective, while providing essentially an open letter for parents and children, alike, who haven’t yet encountered this type of grief. ------------------ Be a part of the pod: [email protected] Visit the in your PODcket website Learn about the #yeahbut initiative Follow on social: @inyourpodcket ------------------ Visit Choice Asset Groups website Follow on social: @choicegroups ------------------ Visit Mackie Real Estate website Follow on social: @mackie_real_estate ------------------ Connect with Mitch: [email protected] ------------------ Music: https://www.purple-planet.com

8: Capacity issues from crypto to fido with Erin Bury
Welcome to the in your PODcket podcast, presented by Choice Asset Groups and Mackie Real Estate. The name George Cecil Harris probably doesn't mean a lot to those listening; however, he represents Canada’s most famous example of a will. George’s story was an unfortunate one. While working on his Saskatchewan farm, he became pinned underneath his tractor. For 10 hours. During that time, he carved into the tractors fender ‘in case I die in this mess, I leave everything to my wife.’ He eventually made it to the hospital after neighbours found him, but it was too late and he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The fender was eventually found and presented in court, where a judge deemed his will— known as a holographic will— to be valid. This week’s guest is someone that knows a thing or two about wills and with that I invite you to join us as we look to start a dialogue for you to continue in the walls of your own home and gain a better understanding of the impact a little planning can create. I hope you enjoy me chat with this weeks guest, Willful CEO, Erin Bury. ------------------ Be a part of the pod: [email protected] Visit the in your PODcket website Learn about the #yeahbut initiative Follow in your PODcket on Twitter Follow in your PODcket on Instagram ------------------ Visit Choice Asset Groups website Visit Choice Asset Groups on Facebook Visit Choice Asset Groups on Instagram ------------------ Visit Mackie Real Estate website Visit Mackie Real Estate on Instagram ------------------ Follow Erin on Twitter Follow Erin on Instagram Follow Willful on Twitter Follow Willful on Instagram ------------------ Music: https://www.purple-planet.com

7: The #yeahbut narrative in golf with LPGA Tour player Marina Alex
Welcome to the in your PODcket podcast, presented by Choice Asset Groups and Mackie Real Estate. There are a lot of people listening now who will not know who Marina Alex is. Frankly, this doesn’t surprise me. Not because what she has accomplished isn’t worth knowing— which, in this instance, is hardly the case— rather, it’s because the feats of females— no matter how significant— in sport have historically taken a back seat to their male counterparts. As a golfer, I’m lead to think of Tiger Woods before Annika Sorenstam, Wayne Gretzky before Hayley Wickenheiser, and Federer, Nadal and Djokovic before Serena Williams, just to name a few. I’m convinced that the most powerful moment in sport is when an athlete becomes humanized by their fans. Seeing them up close for the first time, maybe even being acknowledged by them. While social media has allowed athletes to engage fans away from their competitive environments, nothing compares to the intimate access that is given to patrons supporting women’s athletics, yet interest in their sport continues to wain. And much to the dismay of those who have played the same sport. As you listen to Marina, I encourage you to take it in much like a husband, father, brother, or adoring fan would because this issue has plagued not just players on the LPGA Tour, but female athletes, in general. She talks about the wedge that is only being driven deeper between the men’s and the women’s game, on the professional level, the yearning for equal recognition, the need for there to be more creative outlets for access in watching tournament coverage to coincide with modern entertainment, and in a manner that places them alongside their male peers. Marina gives a players account of the state of the women’s game, offering insight that very few get to actually hear. With that, I hope you enjoy my chat with LPGA star, Marina Alex. ------------------ Be a part of the pod: [email protected] Visit the in your PODcket website Learn about the #yeahbut initiative Follow in your PODcket on Twitter Follow in your PODcket on Instagram ------------------ Visit Choice Asset Groups website Visit Choice Asset Groups on Facebook Visit Choice Asset Groups on Instagram ------------------ Visit Mackie Real Estate website Visit Mackie Real Estate on Instagram ------------------ Follow Marina on Twitter Follow Marina on Instagram ------------------ Music: https://www.purple-planet.com ------------------

6: An athlete's journey with PGA Tour player Michael Gligic
Welcome to the in your PODcket podcast, presented by Choice Asset Groups. If you played sports growing up, chances are you've dreamed of playing on the biggest stage, alongside the biggest names, in the biggest moments. While a lot of us have childhood dreams similar to this, very few (if any) of us ever thought of the steps needed to get us to that point. In fact, in my experience, a lot of people who aren't generational talents (myself included) fade away in the weeding-out phase of professional sports. The grind. This week, I talk about this part of the athlete's journey and the level of commitment needed to have a chance of realizing any aspiring athlete's ultimate dream with PGA TOUR player, Michael Gligic. ------------------ Be a part of the pod: [email protected] Visit the in your PODcket website Learn about the #yeahbut initiative Follow in your PODcket on Twitter Follow in your PODcket on Instagram ------------------ Visit Choice Asset Groups website Visit Choice Asset Groups on Facebook Visit Choice Asset Groups on Instagram ------------------ Follow Mike on Twitter Follow Mike on Instagram Follow Walk in the Bark on Instagram ------------------ Music: https://www.purple-planet.com ------------------

5: Integrating conscious consumerism with different means of investing with Dave O'Leary
Welcome to the in your PODcket podcast, presented by Choice Asset Groups. This episode marks the deepest dive that will be taken into an explicitly financial discussion. The topics on the agendas of regulators and associations in Canada have never run so deep, and carry with them the promise of profound change, and for the betterment of the Canadian consumer. In this shifting landscape is the commercialism of Responsible and Impact Investing, of which, this weeks guest is the resident expert in Canada, in my opinion. Dave O’Leary joins me to discuss some foundational definitions and concepts that surround methods of investing that are often linked with positive social impact, but sometimes investors are surprised when they find this is not the case. Join us to learn how you can be more impactful with your investment dollars. ------------------ Be a part of the pod: [email protected] Visit the in your PODcket website ------------------ Visit Choice Asset Groups website Visit Choice Asset Groups on Facebook Visit Choice Asset Groups on Instagram ------------------ Visit Kind Wealth Listen to the Impact Investing Podcast  Subscribe to his Newsletter Connect with Dave ------------------ Music: https://www.purple-planet.com ------------------

4: Debunking the stereotypes of feminism with Jess Khouri
Welcome to the in your PODcket podcast, presented by Choice Asset Groups. Feminism has gotten a bad rap over the years, and while I think it is slowly becoming better understood— thanks to the advent of International Women’s Day, for example, as well as the efforts of Jess Khouri, my guest today. We talk about how the notion of feminism that she, herself, teaches is one that is merely a guiding set of ideals that everyone aspires to experience: fairness and compassion. Hear how and why modern businesses are shifting to becoming more personified and showcasing the identities of the people behind the brands. Lastly, understand how she perceives society’s progress as we inch towards common ground, and how she approaches raising a child in a society that often results in parents wanting to shelter their children from, as opposed to being experienced incrementally. ------------------ Be a part of the pod: [email protected] Visit the in your PODcket website ------------------ Visit Choice Asset Groups website Visit Choice Asset Groups on Facebook Visit Choice Asset Groups on Instagram ------------------ Connect with Jess on Instagram Connect with Jess on LinkedIn Check out the Feminist Entrepreneurship Academy Order "Hey Babe" ------------------ Music: https://www.purple-planet.com ------------------

3: Redemption and what remains with former NFL player Jarrod Pughsley (Part II)
Welcome to the in your PODcket podcast, presented by Choice Asset Groups. In our second instalment with Jarrod Pughsley, we talk with him as he deals with the lingering effects of an injury he suffered during the first day of NFL rookie camp. Hear how he navigated out of some of the darkest times of his life, some of the details of how an NFL injury is settled, the path to his redemption, and other various first-hand accounts that many professional athletes experience— including their realization of taxes. In the second half of our chat, Jarrod gives us an account as to what it’s like being an opposing player, and watching Tom Brady surgically pick apart your team, his endearing account of walking away from the game he loves at the age of 26, and what he’s doing currently that gives his life added meaning and purpose. Whether you’re a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan who had his jersey pinned up on your wall, or am curious to hear of the hero’s journey of one of the most genuinely wholesome human beings on the planet, this episode is for you. ------------------ Be a part of the pod: [email protected] Visit the in your PODcket website ------------------ Visit Choice Asset Groups website Visit Choice Asset Groups on Facebook Visit Choice Asset Groups on Instagram ------------------ Connect with Jarrod on Instagram ------------------ Music: https://www.purple-planet.com ------------------

2: The come up with former NFL player Jarrod Pughsley (Part I)
Welcome to the in your PODcket podcast, presented by Choice Asset Groups. This episode is the first of a two-part segment, where I talk with Jarrod Pughsley. Jarrod is a former NFL offensive lineman, turned middle school educator and  devout family man. His story is the type that I wish we, the public, heard more of in the media’s coverage of professional sports: those coming from humble beginnings who are able to experience profound change in their lives, when given an opportunity to do so. Jarrod gives us some insight as to the mindset of an aspiring athlete, and the extent of his commitment to improve in order— going so far as to lose 40 pounds in a semester! He alludes to the process of ‘grinding’ at various points throughout our conversation, for everything that he had earned at each level in his playing career, and how he leveraged each adversity he experienced before to overcome the one that laid ahead. Despite his ability to overcome, even he is unsure if he can overcome a big injury that compromises his playing future at rookie camp— before his playing season even began. This would all set the stage for Jarrod and the life events that would follow it.
