Chances are, a lot of who you are is associated with those who raised you— if you’re like majority of Canadians, those people are your parents. Who might you be if one of those people couldn’t be there for you? This has, is, and will continue to be the unfortunate reality for some, so long as there’s life on this planet. While loss shapes us to take different forms, the fact remains that we are malleable, and resilient. We were always bound to assume different forms in our own pursuit of success— a term my former mentor refers to as being an ‘inside job’.
Mitch McMichael know this intimately. He lost his father at a young age after battling leukaemia. Mitch shares his experiences going through various life milestones; providing those who have walked in footprints similar to his, perhaps a different perspective, while providing essentially an open letter for parents and children, alike, who haven’t yet encountered this type of grief.
