Humble Power
Humble Power
Derek Wilson
Have you ever been told that in order to have a successful life you would have to sacrifice your values or morals? Maybe you've been told that the only reason why people are wealthy is because they've had to step on other people to get there. If you answered yes to these questions, congratulations you're normal. I was told these exact things as well. I was told that the "rich people" only became that way because they had fleeced the working class folks like "us." The people that have that great marriage? Yeah, they probably fight like cats and dogs when they are alone because no one has a relationship like that. I get it. There is BS and fake people everywhere. Especially now in the world of social media. Most people only post what they want you to see, not what is truth. We are all jaded to a certain degree because we all know people that act one way online and live completely different in real life. I formally invite you to join our Humble Power movement podcast. This will be a place to listen to people that have been able to have massive success in ALL areas of their life without having to sell their soul. I will also be giving you personal nuggets that I have learned by working with some of the most successful online business people in the world over the past decade as well as my own experiences. We will cover the difficult topics that I have personally struggled with as well as many of my clients; how to "have it all" when it comes to relationships, finances and even parenting. We will be on a weekly journey to prove once and for all that you CAN have a powerful life while still being yourself. Understand this, for years I struggled with the fact that I wouldn't be able to be a powerful person because the self-anointed powerful people that I would see acted nothing like me. I'm not brash. I'm not conceded. I'm not overly confrontational. But I also knew that I didn't have to be. The issue is that most people never learn that. Again, I ask you to join us in this movement. Learn from the amazing people that I will be talking to. Implement these strategies that we will discuss in your life so you can have the things that you have always wanted but have never done because you didn't fit in their box.
HPP 007: Break the Cycle
(0:01-3:00) Breaking the cycle. The worst statement you can make is saying "I am who I am". You should not give up on your ability to change or grow or advance or adjust in life or business. It's never too late to break the cycle. One mistake can turn into 2 and then into 3 and into 4 and so on. It's the series of mistakes you make that end up costing you. You have to learn from your first mistake and move on from it so you don't continue the cycle. (3:00-5:06) The quickest way to failure is to compound your mistakes. By making the same mistake over and over again. The best thing you can do is learn from your original mistake so you don't continue to make the same mistakes again. (5:06-8:00) Generational poverty, where mom and dad grow up poor and they raise poor kids and so on till we have generations of poverty and nobody knows any different. It's hard to learn to be successful when you're surrounded by failure. However, no matter how you were brought up, at some point you have to realize that it's up to you to change your own life. (8:00-10:20) It's important not to get stuck in your ways, no matter what cards you're dealt. This day in age the opportunities are there. Playing the victim won't make you successful. (10:20-13:00) Work ethic, vision and hard work is what will make you successful in life and relationships. You have to have the mindset that failure is not an option so it won't be. Setbacks will happen but you won't fail if you don't allow yourself to. Be willing to break the cycle. (13:00-13:29) Go to YouTube and rate the humble power podcast.

HPP 005 - Support vs Truth
Searching for answers, trying to figure out where the relationship failed and how one should move forward. Do you want the truth, or are you looking for support?  Do you want the truth, or are you looking for support?  It's tough for a friend to help you make a change unless you want the harsh truth. When we lose honesty, we lose truth. When we want to be supportive and agree. The next time you have a problem, ask yourself if you want support or honesty. Think about the five people you're around the most. When they don't want to be called out. Some people are brutally honest. Why do younger people think we have time for the nonsense? The best thing you can do now You can choose to take responsibility for what you've created and change it. Once you get your body in order, you feel better and more powerful. It sometimes takes a good friend or mentor to explain that harsh truth, and hear that you need to fix your own life. Key Quotes "We've gotten to a point where we don't want to be honest with people anymore. We don't want to tell the truth, because we fear people saying, 'You're judging me.'" "We have to ask ourselves: do we want support or do we want truth? Do we want someone who will enable us, or someone who will help us by giving us clarity? What do we want?" "You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with." -- Jim Rohn

HPP 004 - How to Rise Above Mediocrity by Mastering 3 Biblical Principles with Myron Golden
Learn Practical Biblical Perspective for Marketing, Sales, Bunisess Development, and Financial Literacy from Myron Golden. Myron and his wife are business and life partners. Derek's sister lost her brother to cancer at age 19. Most people think the Bible is about religion, but it's really about a king, a kingdom, a royal family, and the colonization of a foreign land.  As a sovereign king, God knows what's best even if it doesn't feel good to us. Derek has a friend who uses the Bible to justify his level of financial mediocrity.  Myron believes in getting our doctrine from the Bible instead of vice-versa. There are three Bible study laws you must apply Look at the first time the words wealth, lack, and rich are mentioned in the Bible.  Numbers have meaning in the Bible There was gold in the Garden of Eden, and God tells us it's good. Gold and wealth is good. In the Hebrew alphabet, every letter has its own definition and every letter is also a number. The gematria of the word "rich" adds up to the number eight.  Circling back to the idea that Derek's friend's who had the idea that money is evil is an idea that comes from the Devil himself The lesson is that when you change what you say, it changes what you see. There are so many amazing things around us to be grateful for, but many people choose to focus on the negative. The situation doesn't have a definition until you give it one.  If God designed wealth to be good, why are some evil people rich and some good people broke? The biggest lie we teach kids today when it comes to succeeding business, power, and confidence School programs children that finishing a task is not important, don't specialize, and when the bell rings, switch to the next thing. The college system is designed to get people so in debt that they will spend their lives doing what they hate in order to pay the bills. School was originally designed to get you a factory job, but that doesn't apply in this day and age of entrepreneurship and software developers. A confident person is someone who confides (trusts) in themselves. "Expectation" means you can see clearly in the present, a future outcome. To stop anxiety (stressing about the future), replace it with positive anticipation instead.

HPP 003 - Thrive or Survive
Surviving vs. Thriving. There are two types of people: the ones that just want to survive, gather firewood and eat berries. There are other people who want to thrive: hunt and create a large shelter. Description of the daily cycle Derek was in the same position several years ago.  Derek knew things had to change.  What would happen if you decided to stop surviving and start thriving?  No matter how great you are at your job or what you contribute, you might be stuck Making different choices Why would you not better yourself if you are unhappy? Look at your life and make the call Life is too short to settle Look at your life, figure out the areas where you're holding on.  Key Quotes "You don't take the steps to get better, you just continue accepting the monotony of everyday and barely making enough money to get by. Whose fault is it at that point that you're just barely surviving?" "Maybe you have a unique set of experiences in a way that you can help someone. By educating yourself and honing those skills, you could provide enough value to the marketplace that would allow you the freedom to get away from what you're doing right now."

HPP 002 - Misconception of Power
Derek wanted to start the podcast to prove that we have a misconception about what it means to be powerful in a marriage, relationship, job, business, or as a parent. Everywhere, people are talking about improving their lives or growing their business.   Everyone on the planet wants to feel better. Right now is the best time to be alive. There's a misconception about sales that if you can speak quickly, you'll be good at sales.  Derek introduces another example about parents who achieve power from yelling.  The lie that people tell themselves is that if you're not overbearing, you must be a pushover.  The mission of the podcast There's power in listening, relationships, and allowing people to love you. Be respected, don't be feared. Your "action" step On the flip side of that, are you too humble? Be critical of yourself, and find the balance between listening and asserting yourself.  "The one thing everyone in this world has in common, whether you're in the middle of nowhere with no access to anything, or if you're living in a high-rise in downtown Manhattan, everybody wants to feel better. No matter how good you currently feel, you want to feel better."
