Do you find yourself always searching for the quickest way to lose your weight?
Probably - I know that’s what I thought I wanted to find. In fact, I was captivated with that TV show The Biggest Loser - you remember that one? They’d have a handful of contestants competing to lose the most weight over a short period of time.
Do you also know most of those contestants end up re-gaining all their weight and then some? A study showed the rapid weight loss they experienced created permanent issues with their hunger hormones and metabolism that led to the weight coming back.
Even gastric bypass patients struggle keeping the weight off. The Mayo Clinic says only 40% maintained at least a 30% weight loss after 12 years. The problem is they went for the quick-fix and never learned the lifestyle to keep it off.
Bottom-line is even though we think we want it to happen as quickly as possible, rapid weight loss IS NOT how we lose our weight for GOOD. 15 pounds in time for the wedding, maybe? For good? Uh no, afraid not.
So I have a simple question for you today - SO WHAT?
SO WHAT if it takes you some time to lose your weight. ESPECIALLY when you know you’re doing it in a way that will last.
Think about how long it took you to gain the weight – even baby weight. Why do you think you should lose it in a matter of months?

I wish I had a dollar for every time I heard someone say I needed more willpower.
I also wish I knew how wrong they were when they told me that, because that would have saved A LOT of wasted effort and heartache on my journey to end my weight struggles.
So that’s exactly why it’s so important I share this with you today.
More willpower is NOT where your power comes from. The truth is you never have more than a limited supply of willpower because that’s acting against your will - your thoughts and feelings - and God didn’t design us to be able to do that for very long.
You know where you can find true power that never runs out? By learning how to enjoy your journey.
Do you know how it’s possible to actually enjoy your journey? By making small shifts that create more empowering feelings.
Here’s a life-changing truth. EVERYTHING we do is motivated to make us feel better.
If what you’re doing – like restrictive diet actions not aligned with the life you want to live – leads to you constantly feeling bad, miserable or somewhere in-between, then guess what? You’re not going to keep doing them.
Sure you might be able to generate enough willpower to keep going for a few weeks especially if you have some success and wins along the way…BUT I promise you it’s not going to last if those feelings don’t change.
Soon enough you’re going to be searching for all the reasons to change what you’re doing so you can start feeling better. That usually leads you right back to the actions and habits you had before you started. And that’s a problem because they aren’t leading you to where you really want to go.
Feelings are what drive our actions. Always have been and always will be. When you understand this, you can apply this to your journey by learning how to generate more feelings that are going to keep you on the path you want to be on.
That’s how you learn how to enjoy your journey - and that is what makes it possible and so much easier to stay on it until you get to where you want to be.

Losing your weight starts with a shift.
A shift towards higher quality thoughts. A shift towards actually believing it’s possible for you.
Do you truly know what you’re thinking right now about your ability to lose weight? Do you have that awareness?
The truth is it’s probably not good. You’re probably thinking things like “I’m not sure this is possible”, “I don’t think this is EVER going to really happen” or “I just can’t do this”.
Those beliefs crush your dreams, they steal your ability to lose your weight…and you probably don’t realize how much you’re having them.
One big problem is diets focus all our attention on taking actions. And taking actions in a way that usually ends up harming our belief in ourselves more than it helps.
The truth is our thoughts and beliefs are creating our results, NOT the actions we take.
That might seem hard to believe but it’s true.
You see without higher quality thoughts, without believing it’s possible for you, then you’re never going to have the ability to actually take the consistent actions to get you there.
The great news is you can change this. You can make this shift. You can take steps that help you think differently and strengthen your belief this IS possible for you.
Even if it’s just a baby belief, it will make a BIG difference.

Most results come from focusing on the fundamentals.

God’s design for our human body is simply amazing.
Did you know we have little messengers that allow our brain and stomach to talk to each other and provide signals when we’re physically hungry and when we’ve had enough?
Unfortunately the way we’ve been taught to eat and the foods available to us today can make it really hard for these guys to do the job God intended for them.
And when we’re not in touch with them and they’re not working properly, it creates this self-perpetuating cycle of over-hunger that drives us to continually eat more than we need to.

Do you wonder why it’s so easy for you to follow your diet when you start but it’s really hard after just a couple weeks?
Because diets are NOT a lifestyle. So many of the things they tell you to do are not aligned with the life you want to live.
This means your capacity to do those things diminishes greatly the moment you’re no longer excited about them.
I’ve spent most of my life struggling with all the things the world’s diet culture taught me to do. I even became a certified coach teaching diet culture to other women.
Here’s the ah-ha moment I had a couple years ago. The lifestyle I was finally able to figure out for myself - the one that allows me to keep my weight off AND live the life I want to live - actually rejects most of the concepts and activities diet culture teaches us.
So it became my mission to figure out how I can teach this unique approach to weightloss in the easiest, simplest way possible and then to start sharing it with you.
Because let’s be real - dieting sucks. It’s either telling you to do things you don’t want to do or telling you you’re a failure because you’re not doing those things.
And let’s be real about something else - dieting and struggling your life away is NOT the life you want to live. It’s also not the life God wants you to live.
