So you want to start creating video content that helps you build your brand and grow your business but you got a couple of questions like: 👇
📲What equipment do you need….and don't need?
📲What type of video content should you be creating and which ones should you maybe not be creating
📲How do you ensure this becomes a positive ROI for your business instead of a giant waste of time?
I answer all of these questions and so much in this video!
1.) THE EQUIPMENT: What you need….what you don’t need
Video
The good news is, you don't need a studio filled with expensive gear to create impactful videos. In fact, the smartphone in your pocket is your secret weapon. Whether it's an iPhone 15 or an older model like the iPhone 13, these devices are more than capable of producing high-quality content. Smartphone quality videos are dominating the feeds right now (Both organically and in paid ads)
When creating long-form content, such as YouTube videos, horizontal orientation is your go-to (16 x 9). However, for platforms like LinkedIn, TikTok, YT Shorts, or Instagram Reels, vertical videos reign supreme. Remember, if you record in horizontal, you can easily repurpose to vertical videos. But if you start with vertical, it's VERY challenging to switch back to horizontal without losing a TON of quality. So, plan your shoots accordingly.
Audio
Audio quality can make or break your video. While smartphones do an adequate job, dedicated mics like the Comica, Movo, or Rode can elevate your audio game. For mobility and the smartphones, wireless mics from Comica and Movo are both excellent choices, especially when you're on the move. I would start there!
Lighting
Lighting is crucial, especially for indoor shoots. Aim for three core lights: a ring light for direct illumination and two side lights for balance. Adjustable lights in strength and tone are essential for creating the perfect mood.

2.) WHAT TYPES OF VIDEOS SHOULD YOU BE CREATING AND FOR WHAT PLATFORMS?
Type of Videos
Identify your pillar content - the topics you'll repeatedly discuss to build authority. Differentiate between 'why' content that shifts perspectives and 'how' content that provides solutions and how-to education. Use storytelling, customer success stories, and edutainment to keep your audience engaged!
Platform Focus
For B2B companies, LinkedIn and YouTube are invaluable platforms. TikTok being right up there too now! Spend the next 12 months honing your skills and growing your presence on these channels. While you're at it, don't neglect off-social media content like website videos, content libraries, newsletters and blog posts.
3.) HOW TO ENSURE VIDEO BECOMES A POSITIVE ROI INSTEAD OF GIANT WASTE OF TIME
Maximize Every Video
The magic of video content lies in its versatility/repurposing. One video can transform into a blog post, newsletter, LinkedIn post, TikTok, and more. Repurposing not only maximizes your reach but also ensures you’re squeezing every bit of value from your content.

I guarantee after seeing these 5 video strategies, at least one of them will have you saying, “I am doing this!!!”
All of them are simple, actionable, and crazy effective!
Strategy 1: The Pro Live Strategy
What you do is set up a live recurring event – it could be once a week or biweekly. Your event is usually virtual, for logistical reasons, but you can get creative with in-person sessions if that's feasible. Using platforms like Zoom, you talk for 15 to 20 minutes about a core, broad-topic that you break down into key points.
These topics should be relevant, engaging, and valuable to your target audience.
At the end you do a Q&A segment where you interact with your live audience. After the event, you've got a long-form video for YouTube, website content, or even a podcast episode. You can extract four to five short clips from the initial 15-20 minutes.
Strategy 2: The Client Multiplication Video Strategy
Schedule video meetings with five to ten clients – your best, newcomers, and even those who've gone stagnant.
Record these meetings.
Capture video testimonials that you can use on LinkedIn, your website, and other platforms.
Discover what content they consume and what they want to consume to improve your content strategy.
Create your own video content based on these client success stories. Share their transformations and make them the heroes in the story.
The key is to turn these stories into engaging content. Don't just present reviews; narrate a compelling journey, highlighting the starting point, challenges faced, and the ultimate success.
Then….ASK FOR REFERRALS :)
Strategy 3: The Edutainment Video Series Strategy
Start by identifying the top three pain points, challenges, or questions your customers frequently ask. Then, create content that addresses these problems while keeping your audience entertained.
There are various creative formats you can use, like real-life scenario skits, personification videos, or content inspired by pop culture. The key here is to ensure that each video stands on its own while contributing to the overall series. Test and try different themes to see what resonates best with your audience before diving in headfirst.
Strategy 4: The Video Content Library Strategy
Create one long-form video every week or biweekly, and then set up a content library section on your website. This video also becomes a YouTube upload, complete with a thumbnail. Use transcription tools like Descript to quickly generate the text (Transcription). This blog can accompany the video and thumbnail in your content library.
The real beauty of this strategy is the micro content you can derive from it. Transform the video into short clips, text posts, and picture posts.
Strategy 5: The Q&A Video Strategy
The Q&A Video Strategy is your ticket to answering your audience's questions directly.
If you're not receiving questions in your comments section, take a proactive approach by speaking to your customers and prospects to gather their questions and concerns. If that's not enough, check out the comment sections of other creators' content (in your industry) for inspiration. Engage with your audience by responding to their queries, offering solutions, and sharing valuable insights.
Each video should revolve around one question, using it as the hook, and your answer becomes the core content. This structured approach ensures you're delivering concise, valuable content. This content can get posted in the feed but also on your website too :)

There's a sneaky lil tactic that the top video creators use to HOOK you into a video and steal your attention...
And you don't even know it's happening 🤯
But I’m gonna expose it right now and show you exactly how to do it! 😎
Why is this so important to know how to do?
Because 80-90% of a video's overall performance is highly dependent on your ability to capture your audiences attention in the first few seconds (Before they swipe to the next piece of content)
Your first few seconds can literally make or break your video!!
Now you’ve heard that you need a “Hook” in your videos in order to effectively grab attention (Duh) but most aren’t teaching you the psychology behind it AND also giving you real life examples of how to do it!
Well I am, so here we go!
So the fundamental human psychology behind a great “Hook” is something we call the "Curiosity Gap."
It's the space between the information you've revealed and what you're holding back. You give your audience a taste of something intriguing, but they know there's more to come. That's the gap that keeps them curious and hungry for more. (By the way, I didn’t invent this it’s a legit term in marketing..shout out to Marcus Sheridan for first bringing this concept to my attention!)
You've seen the curiosity gap play out everywhere: in headlines, books, TV shows, movies, and, of course, in social media videos. It's the art of making your audience think, "I need to know what's in that gap!" And guess what? We've also been using it in this email since the very beginning. 🤯
So, what do some of these “Hooks” and curiosity gaps look like? Well, here are 11 examples of ones I’ve used, and my clients have used over the last few years, and they’ve performed VERY well! Steal away!
1.) The Secret: I used it in THIS video and copy :) Go back and look 😎
2.) Problem/Solution: If you’ve been struggling to (Desired result) this is exactly what to do about it
3.) The Proposition: (Option 1) or (Option 2) Which one should you be focused on if you want to (Desired result)

5.) Debunk a Myth: You don’t need to (Myth) to get (Desired result)
6.) Why Not?: Here’s why your (Action/pain point) isn’t converting into (Desired result)
7.) Customer Success Story: Here’s how you go from (Low point/pain) to (High point/desired state) in (Period of time)
8.) Here's How You.. Without: Here’s how you get (Desired result) without having to (Headache/pain)
9.) Show, Don't Tell: Here’s the behind the scenes of (Insert something that your customer struggles with and show them how it’s done) (Voice over while showing them works very well here!)
10.) Bold Opinion: (Take a common problem in your industry) and (Disagree with the typical approach/offer a unique POV/new solution)
11.) Edutainment Skit Video: Dive into a skit that combines humor, education, and entertainment (Ton of ways to do this one!)

There are proven frameworks and tactics that great creators use to hook you in, retain you, and inspire you to take action
And once you know how to do that…your marketing and business will never be the same 🤑

The Framework
To create videos that truly captivate your audience over and over again, you’ll need a straightforward yet highly effective framework known as the G.E.M.S. framework. This framework is designed to guide you through the process of making sure that your video hook, retain, and inspire action from your audience. And here's the best part – the GEMS framework is not a fleeting trend; it's a timeless approach that will serve you well now and in the future. Here it is:
G - Get Clear on Your Audience and Message
Before you even think about hitting that record button, take a step back and ask yourself: Who are you creating this video for? Why should they care? What's in it for them? These fundamental questions are often overlooked but are the building blocks of effective video content.
E - Engage Your Audience with a Strong Hook & Earn Their Attention
Think of your hook as the bait that lures in your viewers. In a world where social media feeds are overflowing with content, you need to earn every second of your audience's attention. To do that, pique their curiosity right from the start. Share a compelling story, a unique/bold perspective, or a knowledge gap that keeps them wondering, "What's next?" Curiosity is your ally here.
M - Map Out Your Key Points to Retain Your Audience
Once you've reeled in your audience with a captivating hook, it's important we retain them. And to do that you need to map out your key points. Don't leave this to chance; plan your content strategically. What are the essential messages you want to convey? What are the key takeaways for your audience? How will you keep them engaged throughout the entire video? By mapping out these key points, you ensure that your video remains focused and delivers value without wandering off course.
S - Sum Up Your Message and Inspire Action
Lastly, you’re going to sum up your message and inspire action. As your video draws to a close, you don't want to leave your audience hanging. Deliver on the promises made in your hook and throughout the video. Summarize your message, reiterate its importance, and most importantly, inspire action. Whether it's a call to visit your website, subscribe, or share the video, make it clear and easy for your viewers to take that next step. (Note: You do NOT need a direct CTA with every video)

If I lost all of my followers on LinkedIn
Had 0 presence or brand there
And was tasked with building it all back up again, as fast as I possibly could…
This is EXACTLY what I would do!
FIRST: I’d go into it with this mentality….
I’m going on LinkedIn to win customers or at minimum set up meetings in the first 30 to 60 days. I’m not waiting for my brand to build or for me to get traction with content, I’m going to start social selling and creating opportunities day one! (I’ll show you how to do that later 😁)
Now as I’m creating these short term wins, I’d also be focused on creating the type of content that builds brand and attracts my dream clients for months and years to come. That way I can slowly go from the hunter to the hunted 😎
And here’s the 4 step process I would use to accomplish all of this…
Step 1: Decode the LinkedIn Algorithm
Look, there’s no way you’re going to “Game the LinkedIn algorithm” but what you can do is understand the landscape, the people there, and yes, how the LinkedIn algorithm tends to distribute content. Picture LinkedIn as a marketplace, hosting a staggering 63+ million companies – it's a B2B hub teeming with potential connections and opportunities. To succeed here, you need to know the terrain and make the most of it. It's important to note that LinkedIn is a social-graph algo, as opposed to an interest-based algo like TikTok, Reels, etc.
Step 2: Create a Client Attracting Profile
Your LinkedIn profile isn't just a digital business card; it's your brand's face to the world. Craft a compelling headline, banner, and about section that speaks to your audience's needs. This isn't about listing your achievements; it's about showcasing how you can solve their problems, and how you’ve done it many times before (With social proof)
Step 3: The Core Four Strategy – The secret to booking meetings on LinkedIn the first 30-60 days on the platform
Here’s the gist of it:
Search: Use sales navigator to drill down by job title, industry, location, activity on LinkedIn, etc.
Engage: Engage with target customers content daily
Connect: Connect with those same people now because you have context
Message: Send them value-based personalized video DMs (Or audio/text) and start booking meetings!
Step 4: Creating LinkedIn Content That Converts
Your content is your voice on LinkedIn. It’s like you being on stage delivering that keynote. Share eye-catching image posts with stories or short, impactful videos. Address the challenges your audience faces, and offer insights that showcase how you can provide solutions. Edutainment content is still VERY underutilized and underrated on that platform. Capitalize on that!

Transforming your videos from amateur looking, to highly creative and engaging, requires a skilled video editor, but the question is:
-Where do you find one?
-How do you screen for the right person?

I break down all of this and walk through my 5 steps to hiring an ELITE video editor! Here they are!
Step 1: Define Your Needs
Before you start your search, clarify your expectations. Are you looking for someone to film, curate, and/or edit? Know your video editor's role, skills, and software proficiency.
Step 2: Determine Work Arrangement
Choose between in-house, offshore, or outsourced options. In-house offers seamless integration but comes at a higher cost typically. Freelancing can save money, but time zones, commitment issues, and communication barriers may arise. And offshore can also be a legit option if you’re willing to do what it takes to hire the right person and train them.
Step 3: Source Talent
Consider sources like LinkedIn, referrals, and job boards. Platforms like Upwork and Fiverr are good if you are going the freelancer route too.
Step 4: Evaluate and Screen
Engage in conversations to assess alignment with your goals and values. Gauge their technical skills, creativity, and mindset. Request sample reels and potentially a test video to verify their capabilities.
Step 5: Onboarding and Development
Support your video editor's success by providing clear playbooks, guides, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Ensure they're equipped to excel in your team.
