In this episode, special guest Jim Farley speaks with host Azriela about the various initiatives of the Leichtag Foundation, a private foundation located in Northern San Diego, California. He shares the ways in which the foundation is working to create self sufficiency, alleviate human hardship, and stimulate social entrepreneurship both in the local community, and in Jerusalem. The model of philanthropy that Mr. Farley speaks about is inclusive - it reaches across generational and cultural divides to create robust community around meaningful ideas and traditions. It is also not without conflict - one of the recent foundation's initiatives to assist the needy has been met with heated controversy. Yet, the foundation is built to honor the legacy of its name sake - Lee and Toni Leichtag - and its projects reflect a commitment to their values, and the values of kindness and justice. Toward the end of this segment, you'll also hear about the unique connection between the host and today's guest.
