Refuse to Give Up – S3E5
When making life decisions, there are two groups of people--those who give up and those who refuse to give up. In general, the majority of those who give up do so for different reasons. Contrary to what others may think, it is not always because of laziness or lack of ambition. Believe it or not they give up for reasons that very well may be are out of their control. Such as, illness, lack of finances, education, or family support.  Refuse to give up on God’s promises  Now for the sake of this blog post when I say, "Refuse to Give Up," I am talking about God and His promises. What I know for sure is that when God makes a promise it will come to pass. 2 Corinthians 1:20 New Living Translation says, “For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory.”  In other words, if He promised it in His Word, trust and believe you will see it. And if He put a promise in your spirit you can bank on it happening. Numbers 23:19 New Living Translation is very clear; “God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?”  A time and a season  Another major reason people give up hope is a lack of faith and confidence in themselves and/or God. Now, there is an important factor to consider, and that is faith. Hebrews 11:1 New International Version says, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” The Passion Translation puts it like this, “Now faith brings our hopes into reality and becomes the foundation needed to acquire the things we long for. It is all the evidence required to prove what is still unseen.”  No doubt, it can be hard to hold on to the promises of God. Especially if you have been waiting for a long period of time. One thing we must keep in mind is that there is a time and a season for all things. Simply stated, if you are waiting for healing in your body, refuse to give up. If you need money to start that business, refuse to give up. Are you praying for a loved one to receive Jesus; refuse to give up hope. Because God’s plans for you and your family are good.  Equally important, remember to keep the faith and trust God. Hebrews 11:6 New Living Translation says, “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.”   Conclusion  So, if you have decided to trust God and His promises, then this podcast episode is for you. God Our Sustainer – S3-DE5
Lady V’s Devotional Episode  Psalm 143:7-9 (NLT), says:  “Come quickly, LORD, and answer me, for my depression deepens. Don’t turn away from me, or I will die.   Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to you.   Rescue me from my enemies, LORD; I run to you to hide me.”  Psalm 143:7-9 (NLT)  Devotional  David was like many of us who have experienced a deep depression and begun to lose hope. You realize you need help when those constant drowning thoughts flood your mind of everything hopeless.  So, David expressed his need for God’s help for direction and protection. He wasn’t ashamed to admit he’d come to the end of his rope. It was at that moment David remembered he had an ever-present HELP in Almighty God. Besides, God had done it before, and surely He could do it again.  God is a sustainer!  God had upheld David before, and by reaching out to God again in prayer, David found the HAND of God to lift him up again.  God is a sustainer!  God has the power to restructure, redirect, and rescue you from troubling thoughts that would lead you into a deep ocean of depression.   I know from experience all too well the gasp for that last breath just before you go under. BUT God will reach out HIS hand and bring you high above the watery grave of your thoughts.   It is HIS Word that reminds you that He is with you in trouble to deliver you.  In Psalm 46:1-3, there are promises that ‘God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.’ We do not have to fear the greatest earthquakes of life, or the mountain of worry that falls upon us, or the roaring rush of the ocean waters.   As believers in Jesus Christ, we are safe in God. And when we need help, we shouldn’t hesitate to ask.   GOD IS OUR SUSTAINER!  Beloved, don’t lose hope, seek God, and trust that no matter where you are, you are not hidden from HIS glorious love and grace. And no enemy can snatch you out of HIS HAND.  Thus, be encouraged in the Word of God that says, weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.  Let’s Pray…  Father God,   We come to YOU in the name of JESUS. We thank YOU for your love and kindness. We thank YOU for your gift of grace that covers our lives.   Father God, we thank YOU that your Word promises us that we do not have to fear because YOU are with us. We thank YOU for strengthening us through our difficulties. We thank YOU that helping us is your good pleasure.  LORD GOD, we are thankful that YOU, God, hold us steady while keeping a firm grip on us. God, YOU won’t let us go. Your love, your grace, your word, and your faithfulness sustain us.   Father God, I come against the spirit of depression and I bind that spirit of depression by the authority of YOUR WORD in Matthew 18:18, which says “whatever I bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever I loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. So, in the Name of Jesus, I loose your people from the bondage of the spirit of depression in the POWER of Jesus’ Name.   I bind up those principalities, powers, and rulers of the darkness in high places, in the Name of Jesus. I declare the Mind of Christ be in your people,

In a Moment…- S3E4
Have you prayed for something and it seemed as if the answer to your prayer wouldn't happen? Not only that, but have you also been waiting a long time? Just know this, in a moment everything can change.  Of course, there are things that happen in life that can have a major effect on how one lives. Such as sickness, disease, a loss of some kind, and or financial problems. Keep in mind, no matter what life brings your way, in a moment, things can change.  God knows what’s best  Ultimately, you will have to make some decisions. Now for me, the first thing I do is pray and ask God for direction and help. Because I believe He knows best how to handle any situation or circumstance.   Proverbs 3:5-6 New King James Version says,  “5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”  You see, along with God's direction, I then make the choice, through prayer, to trust His leading and His Word. In other words, it doesn't matter how long it takes. I believe I will experience the manifestation of my prayers answered. Therefore, I will stay in expectation.  In a moment—everything changes  There are several accounts in the Holy Bible of people receiving; 'And suddenly' moments. For instance, the woman with the issue of blood. One encounter with Jesus and in a moment her life changed.  Luke 8:43-44 Modern English Version says,  “43 And a woman having a hemorrhage for twelve years, who had spent all her living on physicians, but could not be healed by anyone, 44 came behind Him, and touched the fringe of His garment. And immediately her hemorrhage dried up.”  Another person whose life changed in a moment was the blind beggar.   Mark 10:46-47, 51-52 New International Version says,  “46 Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging. 47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”  51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.” 52 “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.”  Conclusion  In closing, if you are waiting for the manifestation of answered prayer, then this podcast episode is for you. Only Believe – S3-DE4
Lady V’s Devotional Episode  Hebrews 11:6 (NIV), says:  “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”  Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)  Devotional  When I was younger my dad would have my older sister and me sit at the kitchen table to read Bible verses. I didn’t quite understand what I read in scripture, but I believed God was real. And I believed in Jesus.  As I grew older, I began to see things happen in my life that I couldn’t quite explain. Things I hoped for began to happen for me.   I didn’t quite grasp at that time that God knew the secret petitions of my heart, and most importantly—He knew me!  Nothing was kept from Him and everything was right in front of Him. He cared about whatever concerned me.  As time went on, I learned how to seek God through His Word and prayer. I learned that His Word is His promises to me and those that believe.   I believed God, not because of answered prayer alone, I believed God because He saved me. Time and time again, I would find myself in trouble I made for myself. But, God in all His mercy and grace still blessed me even though I did not deserve it.  He loves me! He knows me! He cares about me! And I believe that my faith in who He IS drew His unmerited favor towards me.  I had faith in God, even though it may have started small—it was all I needed to get started at all.  I didn’t realize the reward of faith in God. His goodness and mercy have followed me all the days of my life—and counting!   Also, it’s important to know that faith is something that our senses will never comprehend. But it is BY FAITH that we receive from God.   Faith encompasses believing and trusting God ANYHOW in the midst of matters of life that don’t make sense!   It takes faith in God to defeat those giants in life that others run from. ONLY BELIEVE!  It takes faith in God to conceive a child well past the age of child-bearing. ONLY BELIEVE!  It takes faith in God to build something that others say will fail. ONLY BELIEVE!  It takes faith in God to receive healing when your body paints another picture. ONLY BELIEVE!  It takes faith in God to love again when your heart has been broken many times before. ONLY BELIEVE!  It takes faith in God to trust that He is able to make what looks impossible become possible. ONLY BELIEVE!  And, most importantly, it takes faith in God to believe in His great love for us. He sent HIS Son, Jesus, to die on the Cross to take away the sins of the world; if only the world would just BELIEVE.  Beloved, it’s time for you to believe God, and receive every good and perfect gift from the Heavenly Father. HIS Word is reliable, and HIS trustworthiness has no end.   Stay in the Word of God and see what He has promised, seek HIM and— BELIEVE!  Let’s Pray…  Father God we come to you in the Name of Jesus. We thank YOU for our belief in Jesus, which was the beginning of all things new in our lives. We thank YOU that, our faith in Jesus sets the stage for the rest of our life and eternity.  Father God, we know that without faith it is impossible to please YOU. Help our unbelief! Help us, Father God,

Pressure Applied Prayer – S3E3
In general, most people have experienced or are experiencing some type of pressure. Hence, the need for this episode, Pressure Applied Prayer. Now, before going any further the educator in me wants to make sure we are all on the same page. Because the word 'pressure' has several different meanings.  So, for this post, the pressure we are referring to means burdens of physical or mental distress. No doubt, we can all agree, the COVID-19 pandemic put families around the world under a great deal of pressure. For me, I could not go through the pressures of life without pressing back with prayer.   Apply prayer to every situation  Have you ever heard the phrase "Prayer changes things?" I am a witness; I know prayer works. You see, I know for a fact that when I pray, God always hears me. And He has shown me as such, time and time again throughout my life.  Listen, in case you didn't know, God cares about what you care about. This is what the Holy Bible has to say about His care. 1 Peter 5:7 Amplified Bible says, "casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully]."  Thus, when you seek Him in prayer in Jesus' name, He hears you and He will answer you. So, when the pressures of life overwhelm you, press back by applying prayer to each situation.  Prayer--the burden remover  Again, I cannot stress enough the importance of prayer because it is communication with God. You may ask, "But SD, how can prayer help me when I'm being pulled in all directions and I feel like I'm losing my mind?" Well, I'm happy to answer that very question as best I can with the help of scripture. Proverbs 3:6 New Living Translation says, "Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take." As you can see, when we seek God’s direction, He will show us who, what, when, and/or where.   In other words, no matter the pressure, God can and will lift those heavy burdens if you would just talk to Him about them.   Conclusion  In closing, if you are overwhelmed with the pressures of life then this podcast episode is for you. God Knows What We NEED —S3-DE3
Lady V’s Devotional Episode  Romans 8:26-28 (NLT) says:  “And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.”  “And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.”  “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”  Romans 8:26-28 (NLT)  Devotional  Who among you likes for things to always go your way?  We all have at some point in our lives. I know I’ve had my seasons of asking God to do things—my way. Unfortunately, there’s a problem with—my way.  The problem lies with our limited knowledge of what’s ahead.   But, Father God, being All-knowing, has the foreknowledge of what’s best for our lives. God knows what we need.   And in, Romans chapter 8, verses 26-28, we find Apostle Paul teaching a valuable lesson. We don’t know what to pray, but the Holy Spirit does. We need to live with His leading—even in prayer.  As believers in Jesus Christ, we cannot leave our lives to chance or our limited knowledge. We have a responsibility of living to glorify our risen Savior. And we cannot be like our Savior Jesus without yielding to the Holy Spirit’s guidance. We need God’s leading.  Yet, when life happens, we pray and we sometimes get caught up in my way for our lives. We want to tell God how we want things to play out. So when my way gets in the way of God’s plan, the results can be disastrous.  You see, in our time of prayer, if we ask for our will to our problems, we ask amiss; meaning—not quite right.   Thus, a result of our lack of knowledge, we’ve asked unknowingly for ‘snakes’ instead of what was best for us.  But God knows what we need!  God knows that when we are spiritual infants we are like those children in a candy store asking for anything and everything. We are unaware that some things are better off not having.   God, in all His goodness, mercy, and grace, knew that because of our weaknesses we needed an Advocate with us—His Holy Spirit.   That’s why for believers in Jesus, God has sent us a Helper in His Holy Spirit to intercede for us. The Holy Spirit prays the perfect prayer and He is in harmony with God’s own will.  God knows what we need!   God, in all His infinite love and grace, steps into our situation and gives us what we need. He knows that until we learn how to ask for what is good for us, which is His will, we’ll keep asking with a  my way mentality.  Beloved, as we live our life, that shows the world Jesus, in doing so, we should live with our steps ordered by the LORD. This means to seek the Lord in ALL things about life through prayer and HIS word.  So when we pray, we must remember that God knows what’s best for every prayer petition that we bring before Him. That’s why His Holy Spirit steps in to help us to pray in any situation which brings about a better result.  God desires to give us HIS BEST. He’s not going to give us HIS worst. NO! Absolutely not!  God wills to take even the bad situations and bring something good out of them.  Think about it like this… a composer working on a song,

To the Prisoner of Hope — S3E2
In general, most people fit into one of two categories: the hopeless or the hopeful. The question then is how can a hopeful person become a prisoner of hope? Well, I'm so glad you asked. Hence, the title -- To the Prisoner of HOPE. Because some people may not realize they have become just that--a prisoner to their hopes.  Thus, before we go any further, let's look at some definitions for 'hope' and 'prisoner' so that we are all on the same page. Hope means to look forward to something with desire and reasonable confidence. A prisoner is a person legally held in prison for the punishment of crimes committed. Also, a prisoner can be a person who feels confined or trapped by a situation or set of circumstances.  Prisoner of hope — literal or mental  No doubt, most people would agree that whether the prison is literal or mental, it can be hard to remain hopeful. Especially when one has hoped and even prayed for a certain outcome but with no change. Not to mention, if a great deal of time has passed, it can be difficult to remain optimistic. Now, that my friends, is a working definition of the phrase 'prisoner of hope.' So, to the prisoner of hope, don't give up.  Hope does not disappoint  Romans 5:3-5 New King James Version says, “3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” Again, the topic is To the Prisoner of HOPE. Therefore, it is true, some people learn important lessons from their prison [literal or mental] experience. Such as the perseverance and character mentioned in previous scripture.  Always trust God   More than anything, don't allow yourself to lose faith. Most importantly, continue to trust God because He hears you. And equally important, He cares about what you care about. 1 Peter 5:7 Modern English Version puts it like this, "Cast all your care upon Him, because He cares for you." Furthermore, Jeremiah 29:11 New International Version says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  In Closing  If you have found yourself in a prison whether literal or mental, then this episode is for you. Reliance on the LORD—S3-DE2
Lady V’s Devotional Episode  Psalm 25:1-5 (NIV) says:  “In you, LORD my God, I put my trust. I trust in you, do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me.”  “No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those who are treacherous without cause.”  “Show me your ways, LORD, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.”  Psalm 25:1-5 (NIV)  Devotional  The oxygen of the believer is reliance upon the LORD. Our total trust in Him is vital to our survival and our walk with Christ.  Having faith in God’s guidance and total trust in HIS will keeps us on the right path in life.   So, how do we receive God’s guidance? It’s quite simple really—just ask! King David knew the value of praying to God and asking for what he needed.   And, as we peer into, Psalm 25, we find David praying for defense, guidance, and a pardon. David knew God to be faithful and the only ONE he could rely on.  David’s hope in God was built over time and through many trials of life. Through it all, David believed God and found Him to be trustworthy.  As believers in Jesus, we also should believe in the reliability of God’s faithfulness. As we receive guidance through reading the Word of God and the leading of God’s Holy Spirit—our path leads to victory. BELIEVE THAT!    When those trials in life arise, remember the words of David, NO ONE who puts their hope in God will be put to shame.  And as we read throughout the Psalms, we are reminded that our help comes from the Lord. There’s no other help I know!  Beloved, the favor of God rests on those that depend on Him. So, no matter what you are up against, rejoice in confident hope, be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.   God’s faithfulness never expires!  We will see Him do great and mighty things on our behalf, in the name of Jesus. So make your requests known to God in prayer. He’s listening!  Let’s pray…  Father God, we come to your throne of grace in the name of Jesus. We are confident that you hear our voices as we direct our prayers to you. We thank you that you rescue the godly and are our fortress in times of trouble. We thank you that you rescue us from the wicked and save us.   We thank you that we find shelter in you; and, even when we are afraid, we can put our trust in you.   And because of what you’ve promised in your word, that you did not give us the spirit of fear, but of POWER, and of LOVE and of a SOUND MIND, we don’t have to be afraid.   We have power—YOU are with us!  For your unfailing love for us is powerful; and your faithfulness endures forever. Praise the LORD!   So as you are our strength and our help, we eagerly watch as we believe that we will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.  We can rely on YOU to help us, In Jesus’ Name and by HIS authority and HIS WORD—It is so!  Amen, Amen, Amen.  {Prayer Scripture References: Psalm 5:3, Psalm 27:39-40, Psalm 56:3-4, 2 Timothy 1:7, Psalm 117:2, Psalm 27:13, Psalm 37:39-40, Psalm 27:13}  Grace and Peace to You, and remember JESUS IS LORD!!!  Lady V   More devotionals you may like

PRAYER—Communication with God—S3E1
Season 3 Premiere of We R S.H.E.Talks Podcast  A new year—a new beginning  Happy New Year!!! We all can agree, 2020 was a doozy. The COVID-19 pandemic wreaked havoc around the world. Therefore, 2021 was a welcomed sight. A new year and a new beginning. As a person of faith, I could not have made it through 2020 without prayer. Thus, praying is a major part of my daily life, because prayer is how I communicate with God.  If you are reading this blog post then you are alive; that is a blessing. You lived to see a new year. And no matter how you got here; you are here. So, take this opportunity to begin again. But I would suggest you start 2021 with prayer because prayer is simply conversing with God. No doubt, He wants to hear from you.  Next to that, Proverbs 3:6 New Living Translation says,  "Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take." In other words, one can pray for and trust His direction. And know this, His direction will always lead you to the best outcome—always.  Giving all your worries to God  Now, you may be someone who prays about some things but not others. You may even think God doesn't want you to bother Him with little things. But that's not true. Because your little concerns are just as important as the big ones.  1 Peter 5:7 Amplified Bible says, “7 casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].”   From the previous scripture, we can see that God wants us to come to Him [in prayer] about everything. Remember prayer is communication with God. So, simply talk to Him.  In Closing  If you would like to learn more about the importance of prayer, then this episode is for you. The GOD of Salvation Hears You — S3-DE1
Lady V’s Devotional Episode  Isaiah Chapter 30, verses 19-21 states,  “O people of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. He will be gracious if you ask for help. He will surely respond to the sound of your cries. Though the Lord gave you adversity for food and suffering for drink, He will still be with you to teach you. You will see your teacher with your own eyes. Your own ears will hear Him. Right behind you a voice will say, ‘This is the way you should go,’ whether to the right or to the left.”  Isaiah 30:19-21, NLT  Devotional  It is ultimately impossible to go through life without battle scars from life’s many lessons. And although, some difficulties are great and some small; God’s mercy, grace, and love are interwoven in those ups and downs.  You see, when God allows certain things to happen, there’s a plan in action to make things good in the end. And there’s something to gain from the experience. And even though we don’t see the benefit of our difficulties as we come face to face with them—adversity is a part of our victory.  When you cry out to God in prayer, the tears are heard as they are collected in a special place. And with every prayer, and each tear, there’s a message to God that says—I NEED YOU!   God hears and God sees! You do not go unnoticed nor are you ignored.   Beloved, when you call on Jesus, He hears you. And because JESUS is our Savior, His name has granted us the confidence to receive strength, the confidence to receive peace, and the confidence that when we trust HIM—He is still able to save.   So lay aside your plans of how to fix life’s difficulties, and take a hold of HIS hand as Holy Spirit shows you the way. Not only will you see HIS goodness in the land of the living, but you will be a witness of HIS mercy, HIS grace, and HIS love for you.  So go to God in prayer and take the promises in HIS Word with you. Then—be in expectation for change.  Be still and KNOW that HE IS GOD!  He WILL answer when we call!  Let’s Pray--  Father God, we come to you in the Name of Jesus. We lift up every burden, every challenge, and every difficulty in our lives to YOU. We thank you that your WORD tells us that we can come to you when we are weary, and you will give us rest. We thank you that your Word tells us that your yoke is easy and your burden is light. We thank you that your Word promises that in ALL THINGS, YOU cause EVERY circumstance to work together for the good of those who love YOU; And Abba  Father, we LOVE YOU. So we thank you for the promise that when the righteous cry for help, you hear us and rescue us from all our distress and troubles. So with your Word, let it be so, By the Authority of the name of Jesus, we receive our prayer answered, and whatever it is we can learn from this situation. Let it be according to YOUR WILL which is YOUR Word, In Jesus Name. Amen, Amen, Amen!  [Prayer Scripture References: Matthew 11:28-30, Romans 8:28, Psalms 34:17-20, John 14:13]  Beloved--Have faith in God! And remember--Jesus IS LORD!  LADY V  More devotionals you may like    Set Free for a New Start    JESUS is the Faithful Love   Rest in the Secret Place of GOD   Credits  Intro & Outro Music by Joakim Karud
