The reporting of the story was incredibly well done.
Such a terrible tragedy! The reporting and storytelling for this true crime was very well done. The sound quality wasn’t the best. Very hard to hear the recordings played throughout the episodes. Could have used better audio mixing. Challenging to listen to in car because you’re constantly turning the volume up and down.

Heartbreaking
Definitely one of the most respectful way to cover such a horrendous situation. I love how you handled your own emotions you can hear in your voice the times it really got you. Thank you for giving Kaylee and her family a voice and doing it respectfully.

A difference in format
I first heard this story on Dateline. Another reviewer compared this podcast to Datelines version saying this was done with “too much fluff”. I disagree. Dateline does an incredible job with their podcasts but this one allows the listener more insight into the victims experience and allows us to hear more recording material of the interviews done with not only the victim but the perpetrator as well. The host does a very good job and is NOT monotone, which is rare. Hearing this story in two different formats allowed me to learn more and have more insight into this story. This podcast was extremely well done and I will look for more podcasts created by this host.

Average True Crime Stuff
You can always tell when a podcast is done by a local TV news reporter/station when it’s still got the cheesey sensationalism of the 11 o’clock news… even down to the host’s line readings. (And case in point she calls herself a host not a reporter.) The story is interesting because it’s just so brutal and the guy is psycho, but I think they could have shaved off at least 3-5 episodes.

So sad
I think it was great podcast. I binged it and was so intrigued. Very sad story. I pray no other family has to go through anything like this, but we all know there is too much evil in the world.

Poorly written and produced
I’m a true crime junky and listened to this on a road trip. I found myself nodding off more than once. It was too full of fluff, and the interviews weren’t compelling. The journalist had a great voice but sounded just like she was reading off a script, but in a very dramatic voice. Her narration when on site at places was full of cliches and unnecessary. It was a very sad story, but could have been made into a much more interesting podcast.

Get over yourselves
Aundrea is a crime survivor telling her story, not an actor. Criticising her language in this podcast? Totally repulsive behaviour. Kaylee Sawyer was an absolutely blameless victim of a horrendous crime. Bringing her race into it? Even more repulsive.

Great job!
Great podcast, well put together, easy (as far as flow and voices, not the actual story!) to listen to. Great for any true crime lover.

“Like”
My interest stayed with the story until the interview and every other word was “like”. Maybe nerves got the best of her, but I couldn’t finish the episodes with the interviews.

Subject matter is good
And the stories are well picked but sometimes the audio and sound is just awful Muffled and hard to understand when she plays the interviews and the volume goes up and down so I’m constantly readjusting

R.I.E.P Kaylee
I’m on a family vacation and I couldn’t stop listening . This was put together perfectly so easy to follow and addicting all while telling one of the most tragic stories I ever heard 😢 I hope Kaylee’s family knows people are praying for them, I am 🙏🙏🙏 I admire them not letting her name be forgotten they are doing so much which means she’s still touching hearts 💕 Also Ashley ( hopefully I spelled your name right ) for the review that says your too dramatic ummm hello this whole crime is dramatic I don’t know how it could have been done differently and you did amazing kept me wanting to know more . Please don’t listen and please give us more 🙏

Not satisfying
I’d stick with Dateline, Casefile, or 48 Hours, which are serious, to the point podcasts. So many people think they can tell an interesting story, they may believe what their friends say. This is pure emotional teenage drama, theatrical and ridiculous…

Absolutely incredible
I listen to a bunch of true crime podcasts and this one EASILY beats out all the rest - amazing storytelling, easy to follow and understand what’s going on, and extremely captivating. Please do more!!!

Compellingly written and produced. Amazing story telling. Could not wait for the next episode. Ashley Korslien really hits it out the park with this podcast.

Way too dramatic
The reporter is way too dramatic. Just tell the story. Also the detective/preacher was ridiculous.

Surprised
Her father was kind of disrespectful to her mother. In his speech he only included his wife, Kylee’s stepmother instead of saying “we all” he kept saying “Crystal and I” as if the woman he created Kylee with didn’t matter. Then he goes on to pray? Wow, that’s surprising and says a lot about the person he is. The fact that he would exclude her mother and her stepfather. Shameful dude, and disrespectful But the podcast was very well done!

A “MUST HEAR” podcast
The story was well written, produced and put together. So glad a friend recommended it to me! Praying for all the families that were affected by that monster.

So sad but needs to be heard
I came across this podcast and listened to it all in one day. It’s so very sad and gut wrenching, but Kaylees story must be heard. I’m so sorry this happened to her and the other victims. I pray for her family and loved ones to someday find peace and Gods grace. Maybe not to forgive what the killer did, but to find peace.

Great podcast! More please.
My prayers go out to the Sawyer family. I remember watching this story on Dateline. What a senseless murder. You did a great job in putting the story together, I really enjoyed it. May she Rest In Peace.

Well written!
Well written end prompt to the subject, not a ton of fluff! Thank you for telling the story!

Decent podcast.
Like others have said, the narrator is way too dramatic, sounds like a overly dramatic local news spot. Also, what is up with the dead space in the middle of every episode? Are you trying to fluff the length of the episodes for some reason?

Another favorite
My favorite true crime pod casts are these that offer a great host, facts, research & responsible reporting, not just reading a story. Well done! Continued prayers for the family.

Great podcast!
I listen to so many and this one has everything I love - great host, interviews, facts, storytelling and best of all NO banter. Prayers for the family of Kaylee and sending strength to Andrea!

Urge to Kill
The most heartbreaking and well done podcast I have listened to in a long while. Could not stop listening.

Definitely one of the best podcasts ever!
First let me say this: Your heart will break for everyone affected by this horrific, unbelievable and terribly sad incident. However, because of her great story-telling, the host, Ashley, keeps you interested in every minute of every episode in this podcast by providing high quality interviews and tons of actual recordings. Excellent work, Ashley!

FANTASTIC!!!
I can’t say enough good things about this series. I a already halfway through and I just started it today. This is SO well done, in depth interviews and so much recording from dispatch/interrogations/etc. This is fantastic. I highly recommend.

Great podcast, every episode kept me interested! The interviews were so detailed. I recommend!

Impressive production & narration!
So glad I stumbled across this pod. It was so well done that I couldn’t stop binging but at the same time didn’t want to speed through & be finished. I absolutely loved the music, the heavy breathing & metallic scraping & all of the other background sounds to the narrative! The interviews were poignant & emotional & really painted a picture of Kaylee & the wounds that ripped through the fabric of her family with her tragic death. I hope you’re able to tell the story for more victims’ & their families’ like you did for Kaylee.

Very emotional
Now i am true crime pretty much all day long, and life in general I almost never cry or let my feelings get the best of me but this one is very impactful. I think because most of this is told by people who actually lived it- parents, family members, investigators, prosecutors, a lot of audio from Edwin himself. The family statements got me- how loved Kaley was and what was so stupidly and violently taken from this earth. But most of all, Andrea Maes is such a hero! She has not gotten nearly enough attention or praise! Andrea told her story with poise and strength, and she completely did not have to. She was well spoken, she was fast on her feet in such an insane situation. I hope she is out there living an amazing life knowing her story can impact a lot of people in crappy situations. Can someone give her a medal or something? Or at least pay for her college.

It was “like” a podcast
While listening to episode three, I like couldn’t like, believe like, how many “likes” are like, contained like in the like, interview, like. It was like a lot of likes.

I want to like this more
But some of the commentary is just banal. Please treat your listeners like they have a brain.

Gripping
This was my first podcast. Finished it in a couple of days. Gripping. Couldn’t wait to get back to it. Ashley Korselin did a fantastic job narrating!

Loved it!’
This was the first podcast I’ve listened to. Interesting topic. Every episode kept my interest.

Missing a big person
I really enjoyed the podcast but I felt like there was a huge part missing. Kaylee’s boyfriend. Why was he never mentioned again? Their fight is the reason she walked off. He called and reported her missing. Does he blame himself? Do the parents blame him? How is he coping? Obviously they were in a serious enough relationship to be living together - so why was he never talked about again?

Amazing!
Loves this podcast. Short and to the point. Not overdramatized but still all chilling facts. Also love the incorporation of real phone calls and interviews. Loved it.
