So... Apparently I’m Growing Up???

= “Maybe since I was spending so much time outside, I maybe missed a couple of these important things and establishments and conversations where my mum was like “hey, you’re growing up so now you’re in charge of this, you’re going to have to take care of this, and stuff like that”

= “Maybe these things are just unspoken agreements, maybe conversations weren’t necessary, maybe talks were not held... maybe it’s just things people assume you already know”

= “I guess I was just expecting really clear, layer out foundations, you know? Like, a timetable, or a to-do list... just really clear, specific things I could follow”

= “We tend to have an all or nothing mindset, so I was like “okay, if I can’t do it perfectly, then I may as well not do it at all. It took me a while to drill these ideas into my head, even when I did know exactly what I needed to do, I tried to ignore it for the longest time and I was just so reluctant to it, because I felt like I wouldn’t be able to do it well, or to do it consistently, or I was just, I guess insecure about so many things that I preferred to just push it aside”

= “I started spiralling and thinking about all of the adaptations that I would have to make for this and to just be able to keep up with it, again, I just scared myself out of it”

= “I think that I should have been more proactive. As I mentioned a bit before, if I was expecting a conversation and I realised that people were already acting without that conversation, then, it’s my job to speak up and ask questions”

Hey there! In this week’s episode, after my tea talk and life update, I introduce the topic of growing up and the responsibilities that entails by stating the structure of how I’ll tackle it. Then, I give some context about how I think these responsibilities are either unspoken agreements or conversations I missed, touching on privilege and being stubborn. To follow up, I mention some examples of how I experienced falling behind, including cleaning, eyebrows, errands, and gifts. Afterward, I talk about what I could learn from that, from being proactive, to diversity, to gratitude!
