Kasey Stavig, our May member of the Month! Kasey is a security forces officer here at Malmstrom AFB and provides security for the nuclear weapons. Kasey will be headed to Seymour Johnson AFB in North Carolina where she will start a new role in law enforcement and air ground base defense!

Dawn McMaster - March MOTM
In this months episode we sit down with long time member, Dawn McMaster. Dawn has not only been a well accomplished member boasting some impressive numbers in the Olympic lifts but has also been a huge asset to Volta Athletics over the years. She helps with event planning and coordinating, and also helps with our nutrition program! Most likely you've seen many of our info boards and graphics around the gym, yep that's Dawn! She is an incredibly talented calligrapher and recently launched her own calligraphy business called First Light Calligraphy. Dawn and her family will be taking off early this summer to start a new adventure in Florida. On top of her Calligraphy business she also decided to start another business slingin' Acai bowls out of a food truck in Florida!!!  If you see her in the gym be sure to thank her for all the work she has put in over the years, making Volta a better place! Huge Congrats to Dawn McMaster, our March member of the month!

Heidi Frazier - February MOTM
Heidi Frazier has been with Volta Athletics for as long as we can remember. Her fun, sassy yet positive attitude always brings the energy and laughter at the classes she attends. She has participated in Team Hypoxia Competitions, along with every single Olympic Weightlifting specialty class we've ever offered. Heidi is tough as nails, strong as an ox and never backs down from a challenge! Lets hear it for our February member of the month, Heidi Frazier!

Tim Egnoski - Coach Spotlight
This month we interview Coach Tim who has been a long time member and has coached with us for a few years. We chat about his background, growing up on a farm, playing pond hockey and how he was introduced to CrossFit. Fast forward to where he is now, coaching full time at Volta Athletics and taking on personal training over the last 1.5 years. He talks about how this has helped him become a better coach, and why personal training is necessary, for everyone. We also chat about the upcoming Team Bingo Challenge and more!

Brendan Paula - December MOTM
Brendan Paula has been a member here for a few years, but just recently separating himself from the pack as one of the top dogs. He admits making the switch from 2-3 days per week to 4-5 days per week has made all of the difference. When Brendan walks in the door regardless of how his day is going, you know he is going to be committed. All in, all the time. He shows up early,  studies the workout before hand, and comes up with a game plan. Everything he does is thought out and attacked with purpose. Brendan always logs his workouts on the app and you can tell he craves learning, which makes him extremely coachable. It's no wonder why he is PRing weekly! Julie McHenry - November MOTM
Julie Mchenry has been a member since 2014, and she hasn't looked back since. She is as steady as they come, showing up to the 4:30pm class five days a week. You'll never hear or complain or make excuses. She's going to show up and give 100% everyday. Julie is an incredibly supportive and well known member in our community. Always showing up for every event and jumps into all specialty courses. Her favorite event of the year is always our Annual Early Birds VS Night Owls in-house competition! Julie keeps her self plenty busy having two jobs and managing real-estate on the side. She says the gym her energy and mental clarity which helps combat the stress from work. When she's not working or at the gym she enjoys hiking in MT and hanging out with dog Hazel! Make sure you congratulate her next time you see her at the 4:30pm! Her advice for everyone or new folks is, "Don't be so hard on yourself and don't compare yourself to others. Show up, work hard and have fun."

Shawn Strunk - October MOTM /// EP. 15
Congrats to October Member of the Month, Shawn Strunk!  Shawn is as consistent as they come. Most likely if you have workout out next to Shawn the first thing you'll notice is his movement is incredible. From high skill movements like double under and HS walks to the Olympic lifts, his attention to detail is what sets him apart. Never rushed by time and a true master of movement.

Bryon Gustafson - August MOTM /// EP. 14
Congrats Bryon Gustafson, on August Member of the month! Bryon is one of those guys that all in, all the time. Since joining he has been consistently hitting the 6am class 4-5 days per week. Bryon has had an incredible transformation over the last 8 months or so losing over 90lbs! He's an avid bow hunter and lover of all things outdoors. He served in the Army infantry for 5 years and did 2 tours in Iraq, totaling 19 months. Bryon has been a pastor since 2011 and is the regional director for Child Bridge, an adoption agency. God, Family, Friends and those in need is what he holds close to his heart. Probably one of our favorite episodes to date! Listen now!!

Congrats to Kayla Lee, our July Member of the Month! Kayla is a mother of 3 and works full time as an in-home PTA. Making time for the gym isn't always easy with such a crazy schedule but like she says, "When I don't feel like going or I'm too tired, I just think, NOT going isn't going to make me feel any better. So just show up!"
