Gratitude helps people refocus on what they have instead of what they lack

Shame, by its very nature, urges us to hide from others and ourselves. Perhaps you experience this hiding in your own life.
Many people fear the thought of being exposed or seen for who they really are, and that fear can be completely overwhelming.

THC - Let me be clear though: It is not the fault of our caregivers for not giving us what we needed, and having an emotional wound is now not our fault.
Because we were not equipped to handle the perplexing and often confusing experiences as children, these wounds manifest into adulthood as defenses, patterning, and triggers. In a way, these manifestations keep us safe and protected, in other words, they numb us from the organic experiences of life.

One way of looking at the emotions we feel is that they indicate a kind of implicit, moral ordering of things. They reveal what we think or believe is valuable, what is meaningful, and even what is sacred to us. There’s a kind of wisdom located in them that we can learn to live in accordance with.

Many people feel exhausted, drained, angry, tired, and depressed by the end of the day. Fatigue may set in as early as 10 in the morning, and there isn’t enough coffee in the world to make it go away. Every little irritation seems to be magnified. A fight between two siblings can put you over the edge. A few drops of spilled milk causes you to feel panicky. The tasks assigned to you at work seem burdensome and overwhelming.
Of all the judgments we pass in life, none is more important than the judgment we pass on ourselves.”

Shame is easily confused with guilt, which is directly related to a specific wrong or sin you’ve committed. Guilt is a feeling of responsibility or remorse (regret) that moves you toward God, compelling you to repent (confess and turn from your sin).
But shame is a more profound, painful feeling about yourself because of your sinful actions or someone else’s sinful actions toward you (typically abuse). With guilt, you feel bad about what you did, but with shame, you feel bad about yourself or who you are. This tends to pull you away from God rather than propelling you toward Him.

Vulnerability is what connects us to other human beings. It is when we “expose” something about ourselves whether that be experiences, emotions, feelings, and/or behaviors to another person in order to form a connection and learn about each other. Since childhood, many men are taught vulnerability equals weakness and therefore men are not supposed to be vulnerable. It can also be difficult to be vulnerable as there might be a fear of feeling embarrassed or being hurt by someone’s response.
Vulnerability is actually a strength. In order to be a strong and healthy individual, vulnerability must take place with the people that you have built trust with. In doing so, one strengthens relationships, improves mental health, and improves the quality of life.
Being vulnerable also takes away the pressure that you have to do this on your own
