Reframing Healthcare in America
We're talking about healthcare in America this week. We focus on:How do you get health insurance in the U.S?Why is it so expensive? Why do people disagree about how healthcare should work in the US?  We're always striving to make any conversations on the Reframers a model for real-life conversations. Reframing Critical Race Theory
This week we're discussing a current favorite buzzword by politicians and the media: CRT. Found in headlines on a weekly (daily) basis, the Reframers sit down to define CRT (Critical Race Theory), talk about what it ACTUALLY means, and break down why it might be a flawed debate in the first place. Armed with some good research and a healthy handful of questions, the 3 hosts dive in ready to learn. Zach acknowledges the elephant in the room: it's nerve-wracking to talk about race for fear of getting it wrong and being branded a racist.  Erin reminds us that this is a graduate-level theory, and we ponder how a complex idea has become a mainstream topic of debate.  Kassie points out how big, negative stereotypes about both the left and the right are deeply damaging our perceptions of the "other side" and making it feel impossible to talk to each other.  We're always striving to make any conversations on the Reframers a model for real-life conversations. We encourage reimagining disagreement, by "reframing" what it means to talk with someone who sees different media than you, grew up with a different background, or has different beliefs.    Please like, subscribe, and share! Reframing Private Prisons
Welcome back to The Reframers! This week we’re discussing private prisons. Erin wants to know if Zach’s conservative leanings are going to influence his take. Kassie wants to know what a private prison even *is*…(did you know there was more than one kind of prison?) Join us as we break it all down. Sneak peek of the questions below: What is the difference between a private prison and a public prison, and what are the benefits of having both options available? In what cases would an incarcerated person be placed in either a private or public prison? Do private prisons choose what type of prisoners they house? How do private prisons make money, as a business?  Aka who pays their bills? Typically in a capitalist society, businesses make money when people choose one product or service provider over another. Are the prisoners choosing where they go, or their families? Do the prisons have to worry about remaining competitive against other prisons?
