This episode affected me more than I expected, more so from listening to both Cary and Robbie's stories than from telling my own. Robbie is the Millennial, Cary, the Generation Xer, and of course I'm the Baby Boomer. What I found amazing was that though there are some differences in our experiences, and even though our experiences span three generations, the similarities are many. I want to note that we are not implying that we represent the experiences of all gay men from these generations, but I think you'll find they represent a good number of us. Though things are certainly easier today than they were when I was a kid there are still far too many gay youth who are bullied, ostracized, and kicked out of their homes for just loving someone of the same sex. If you, or someone you know are going through any of these things please put them in touch with one of these wonderful organizations that are there to help. Thank you.
