Acweorna! Welcome to episode 1094 of The Paranoid Squirrel Rock Show — another hour of the best in Punk, Junk & Glunk!
This week, Covers Corner gets busy with a rock ’n’ roll centenary celebration, a synth-pop classic given a heavier treatment and a live cover that prompts a few thoughts on debut albums and what came afterwards.
Elsewhere, there’s a remarkable tale of fan-powered independence, a heartfelt dedication, a long-overdue second album and a trip into Southern California’s mod and garage archives. Fresh discoveries rub shoulders with familiar favourites, with garage grit, sharp punk, British guitar-pop harmonies and hard-rock swagger all finding room in the Squirrel Dray.
There’s also news of December punk gatherings, a little romance at the top of the Eiffel Tower, and a defiant finale for those of us who’ve never quite fitted in.
Turn it up and get stuck in — Classic & New Music, Loud, Proud & Squirrel Approved!

Acweorna! Episode 1093 of The Paranoid Squirrel Rock Show is here—a birthday salute, five gigs in three days and plenty of noise from the Squirrel Dray!
The Beatles get proceedings underway in celebration of what would have been John Lennon’s 86th birthday, followed by fresh music from 20th Century Boys and a solo outing from Rob Moss with a different musical flavour.
Then we hit London’s gig circuit: Glitter Kick provide an unreleased treat, The DeRellas bring the glam-punk swagger, and Marc Valentine offers a taste of his forthcoming live album. There’s garage-punk from WitchDoktors, Mauro & The Mob’s debut gig, a packed room for The Sideshows and Lenny Kaye and Friends’ “Riot On Oxford Street”—including a soundcheck that stopped me in my tracks!
Covers Corner welcomes Soraia and Palmyra Delran & The Doppel Gang, with witchcraft, ghostly goings-on and a Joey Ramone connection. Ramones keep the racket rolling before The TR5’s take us home, with one last dig at Griff along the way.
New stuff, classic stuff, live recordings—loud, proud and Squirrel approved. Turn it up!

This week, Covers Corner takes us through acoustic surprises and unexpected interpretations, before we head to the Hope & Anchor for live recordings celebrating much-loved music, some Detroit attitude and a punk original armed with an acoustic guitar.
Elsewhere, there’s music from Italy, Australian garage rock rescued from the archives, fresh releases and a new perspective on a forty-year-old favourite. We finish with a reminder that some albums deserve considerably more than one listen.

This week’s rummage through the Squirrel Dray brings together fresh releases, classic punk, Aussie pub rock, power pop, Swedish rock ’n’ roll and a particularly busy Covers Corner.
Along the way, two bands exchange each other’s songs, a Beatles classic receives an uncannily faithful makeover, friends come together to celebrate the music of Jesse Malin and one Northern Irish punk institution tackles an anthem by another. There’s also a heartfelt tribute to three much-missed underground songwriters, some sad news from Sweden and a report from an urgent, unpredictable night at the 100 Club.
Add jangling guitars, boogie-woogie hooks, previously unreleased live material and the usual diversions down rock ’n’ roll’s less-travelled side streets, and you have another hour where melody meets mayhem.
No Last Nut this week—but there’s plenty to get your teeth into before the closing credits.

Acweorna! Episode 1090 of The Paranoid Squirrel Rock Show delivers another helping of Punk, Junk & Glunk—where melody meets mayhem and the volume control rarely gets a quiet night.
This week we travel from surf-infused Californian punk to Scandinavian bar-room rock ’n’ roll, taking in sparkling power pop, politically charged riffs and high-octane North East noise along the way. Expect new singles, forthcoming-album tasters, a B-side with A+ credentials and a rehearsal-room recording too good to keep under wraps.
We also put right last week’s accidental escape from Covers Corner, revisit the 100 Club for some gig-going observations and salute Cheetah Chrome with a blast of The Dead Boys. Elsewhere, there are musical connections involving Paul Collins and Brian James, silver-jubilee celebrations and an unexpected encounter with “Ant & Dec”.
The episode was pre-recorded while Griff and I headed back to the 100 Club for another night of live music. No Last Nut this week—but there’s plenty of glorious racket before we run out of time.

Acweorna! Episode 1089 comes rattling out of the Squirrel Dray with a non-LP punk classic from 1980 before heading into post-Stiv territory, Dead Boys connections and Covers Corner.
There are songs swapping bands, a Metal vocalist tackling the Sex Pistols, a much-loved two-minute punk classic given a fresh coat of rock ’n’ roll paint, news from next April’s Savage Magic Records Euro Showcase in Cologne and a selection of new releases covering punk, power pop, garage rock and full-throttle guitar noise.
The show was pre-recorded as Griff and I were up at London’s legendary 100 Club for a rather special album-launch gig—something you’ll undoubtedly hear much more about next week.
And, lurking beyond the radio edition, this week’s Last Nut takes us back to another memorable night at the 100 Club nearly 19 years ago, courtesy of one of my own suitably enthusiastic audience recordings.

This is a slightly different edition of The Paranoid Squirrel. In place of the usual Sunday repeat, I’m handing the keys to the Squirrel Dray over to the artists featured on the ‘Locals 2026’ compilation LP, collated by Bob Kitcher.
Showcasing original music from Beckenham, Penge, Bromley and Sydenham, the album was made possible with support from Southey Brewing Co and Three Hounds Beer Company.
Before tackling the record itself, Status Quo ease us into proceedings with a nod to their Beckenham connections. We then hear both sides of ‘Locals 2026’ in full:
01 Status Quo – Down Down02 Zoe Webster – Captain in the Sea03 The Zorbs – Space Invader04 Duncan Farmer – Shattered05 Erika Steenkamp – Julietta06 The Unready – Narrows07 Adam Croft – I Can’t Deny08 Dead Beat Poets – Monster Rat09 Matt Donovan – Never Far10 Bob Kitcher – Playing in the Sun11 The Ferrets – BR312 David Bowie – Memory of a Free Festival
Along the way, there’s local musical interconnectedness, a Ukrainian refugee’s story, intergalactic shenanigans, a murderous rat and a suitably postcode-friendly finale. David Bowie then brings our tour of the area to an appropriately Beckenham conclusion.
The ‘Locals 2026’ LP and CD can be purchased in person from The Bricklayers Arms or Southey Brewing Co. If they’re slightly outside your orbit, contact Bob Kitcher through social media or email [email protected].
Local musicians, local businesses and entirely original material—this is what the locals sound like in 2026.

Acweorna! Episode 1087 finds The Paranoid Squirrel rummaging through the Squirrel Dray for another hour of new and classic stuff, forgotten gems, Covers Corner and musical interconnectedness.
With the final Bank Holiday of the summer disappearing in the rear-view mirror, Seventeen provide an appropriately unruly soundtrack before Andy Blade & Derwood, Sugar Rats, Kurt Baker, Geoff Palmer, Pat Todd and the Rankoutsiders, Anti-Fashion, Phil Cook & The Fall Dogs and Guitar Gangsters join the proceedings.
Covers Corner brings us The Offspring tackling the Ramones, a pair of vintage Woolworths soundalikes impersonating Slade and T-Rex, plus Slaughter & The Dogs paying tribute to David Bowie. NY Loose and The Sinclairs help bring the Radio Edition to a suitably noisy conclusion.
As always, remain on board after the outro for this week’s “Last Nut”—a live recording of a brand-new song from an album that hasn’t even been released yet.

This week we discover that sometimes I’ve heard a song before without actually realising it, which sends us from 20/20 to Professor and The Madman and onwards to Sweden’s Skallbank, one of the bands I’ll hopefully be seeing at next year’s Savage Magic Showcase in Cologne.
There’s “100 Years of Punk Rock” courtesy of Cock Sparrer and Die Toten Hosen, with the latter opening the doors to Covers Corner. Punk veterans Andy Blade and Derwood join forces, before Cats become Rats and then Sugar Rats, as Willie Dowling’s latest somehow provides another excuse for some Squirrel musical interconnectedness.
Elsewhere there’s brand-new music from The Speedways, Glitter Kick and 2Sevens, Richie Ramone gets dusted off for another spin, Vince Lightning and the Thunderboltz provide some local Rock ’n’ Roll, Kurt Baker goes rummaging through both his own and Slade’s past, and Hard-Ons team up with Poison Idea’s Jerry A.
And when the Radio Edition finishes, don’t go anywhere...
“The Last Nut” this week is something genuinely special: a rehearsal recording, aired with permission, that you’re extremely unlikely to hear anywhere else.
Another hour of Punk, Junk & Glunk — new stuff, classic stuff, forgotten gems and a few musical detours along the way.

This week’s hour of Punk, Junk & Glunk takes in brand new releases, forthcoming albums, punk rock history, forgotten gems, gig and tour news, a bit of Beckenham interconnectedness and the usual musical rabbit holes that somehow lead from one record to another.
There’s music stretching from the 1970s right through to tracks that aren't even officially out yet, with plenty of power pop, punk, garage and big guitars along the way.
BUT... the Catch-Up Crew get something the live Rock Radio UK listeners didn’t.
When the outro finishes, DON’T SWITCH OFF!
Stick around for “The Last Nut” 🌰 because this week, I’ve squirrelled away a bona fide WORLD EXCLUSIVE — a track you won’t hear anywhere else at the moment, played with the artist’s blessing.
New stuff. Classic stuff. Forgotten gems. And The Last Nut!
