Acweorna! Welcome to episode 1094 of The Paranoid Squirrel Rock Show — another hour of the best in Punk, Junk & Glunk! This week, Covers Corner gets busy with a rock ’n’ roll centenary celebration, a synth-pop classic given a heavier treatment and a live cover that prompts a few thoughts on debut albums and what came afterwards.Elsewhere, there’s a remarkable tale of fan-powered independence, a heartfelt dedication, a long-overdue second album and a trip into Southern California’s mod and garage archives. Fresh discoveries rub shoulders with familiar favourites, with garage grit, sharp punk, British guitar-pop harmonies and hard-rock swagger all finding room in the Squirrel Dray. There’s also news of December punk gatherings, a little romance at the top of the Eiffel Tower, and a defiant finale for those of us who’ve never quite fitted in.Turn it up and get stuck in — Classic & New Music, Loud, Proud & Squirrel Approved!01 The Hydromatics – Earthy – The Hydromatics – Easy Action Records02 Molland, Solem & Miller – Roll Over Beethoven – A Centennial Tribute – Hygh Tension Records/Virgin Music Group03 Mortemia ft Jane Odintsova – It’s A Sin – Veland Music04 Manic Street Preachers – It’s So Easy (Live) – Lipstick Traces (A Secret History of Manic Street Preachers) – Epic Records05 The Carringtons – Embers – The Reunion – Self-Released06 The Dear Boys – Join The Queue – The Dear Boys Can’t Say No – Self Released07 The Question – Distance Apart – Much! – Oglio Records08 Class – Take Me With You – Scratching The Celling – Feel It Records09 Ape Hangers – Miss You Girl – Ape Hangers II – Rum Bar Records10 Heavy Weather – Kiss The Ground – Always Tired – Snappy Little Numbers Quality Audio Recordings11 The Forty Fours – This Time – This Time 7” – Blow Up Records12 Blacklist Union – Heavy Is The Crown – The Good, The Bad And The Notorious – BLU Records13 Starcrawler – Kick Me! – Digital Release – Starcrawler Music
