Learning Forward: A mini-podcast series about teaching and learning at MIS
When learners are appropriately challenged to explore real-world issues, dilemmas, and perspectives, their learning becomes more meaningful, more engaging, and endures beyond their time in the classroom. The journalism classes at MIS function much more like an actual newsroom than a traditional classroom. Listen in as our MS and SrS Journalism teachers, Kristi Tousignant and Tanja Connemann share how the design of this class ensures relevance for our students.

Exploring Risk & Reward in Middle School Drama Class
Learning is our core work at MIS, and so we are lifting it up and putting it forward by explaining our approach to teaching and learning through examples from MIS teachers in MIS classrooms. Learning Forward is a mini-podcast series about Teaching and Learning at MIS. In our teaching and learning policy, we encourage teachers to provide opportunities for learners to speculate, investigate, and make mistakes. This involves risk-taking in teaching to provide learners with new and interesting contexts for exploration and action. Listen to episode 2 to learn more about how Middle School Drama Teacher, Maddy Ryan, scaffolds and supports risk-taking in the MS Drama classroom.
