On our 3rd episode of Part 2 or our 8th episode of season 4 if you’re keeping up in military time, The Lingo links up with artist, fashion designer, graphic designer, illustrator and East New York native Andre a.k.a Dreko a.k.a @dreko.almighty and he pulls up with his best friend, our fave and prior guest, KAYLAPHATE (we love a talented friend group!!)

We start by discussing Dreko’s moving history and the copious amounts of Brooklyn hoods that he has graced, but at the end of the day Brooklyn heads be Brooklyn heads regardless.

Drawing was the catalyst for Dreko and his creativity but then Basketball took some of his time through high school and now he’s back to using drawing to situate the rest of his arts, inspiration coming from life but being applied to everything he does. A huge factor of this episode is all four of us discussing what “art” is and what that means to us.

“Everything is full circle” and Dreko shows us that by solidifying that if he is making his art how he wants to, who can say anything else?

We then speak on inspirations and he throws ATM for a loop by starting with “Kevin Durant” and O takes that as a segue into speaking about how basketball became a factor in Dreko’s life and how he liked it and it was cool but it’s not necessarily what he wanted to do.

As the resident Pisces of the group, ATM went on a Pisces tangent with Dreko and how we love living in chaos because it fuels our inspiration and gives us content to work with and the astrology tangent mainly goes between ATM and Kayla as the men in the group are clearly lost 🥴

We them go into Dreko’s music making ethic and how he basically just works with how he feels, sometimes written, usually freestyled based off his emotions and circumstances. He doesn’t have a clear definition on what his “sound” is but as listeners, we see he has his flows and pockets and although he’s a laidback guy, his music speaks otherwise.

ATM, Dreko and Kayla all go into our nuances of dropping projects and receiving flowers. Not many people know how to give flowers because of innate hater energy but overall, flowers are appreciated when received. We also discuss how people listen to our music and what they like to do to our different kinds of music.

We then go into a beautiful viewing of some of his pieces and you’ll need to tune in to the visual episode to actually see them! He tells us what influenced each piece and it’s a beautiful thing to see what inspires people to make the stuff they make.

We finalize it out with a lingo talk with The Lingo and our Brooklyn Native gives us “fr fr” and it just rolls off the tongue so well, as well as a couple others but tune in to hear it all.
