Wrapping up our illustrious sixth season, The Lingo is joined by the enigma, Mr. Don Julio himself. As a man of many hats, it's only right to touch base on a bit of everything he does. We kick off our conversation with how ATM and Don Julio met through music and how O met him through event curation; our first topic.  We glide towards the music talk discussing his new project, The Don Tape, set to drop July 10th, 2022. Enveloping that arching topic we speak on how the music we make as artists will always vary from the sounds we really enjoy, to the music we make for certain groups of our fans; and how the tape has a bit of each.  Throughout the entirety of this episode many gems are dropped to really encompass not only our guest as an artist, but to really embrace artistry as a whole. In a very full circle moment, The Lingo is joined this week by Jalen and Zeal from Escape2NY. Recapping their past Underground Live event (UGL), we recall the start of UGL and how it went from basement bashments to an upcoming rooftop function; from the bottom to the top - literally.  We get into a nice pocket talking about Jalen’s own journey with music and how it led to his younger brother (950rackz a.k.a GSK) forming a love for rap; truly showing us that artistry runs in the family.  Both guests being familiar with and having spent much time upstate, we talk about the music scene up there and the challenges that come with trying to amplify the voices out there - which ultimately takes us back to Jalen’s musical journey. On our latter half, we discuss Escape going global with their Mexico City event, what's next for Escape in regards to UGL and their Art Expo and how to further creative this space and platform for creatives. You already know how we coming, it's a family affair! This past week, The Lingo was graced by guests from our last 4 seasons, @Kaylaphate, @Destheproblem, @malik.english, @jezmakesmusic. It's real simple this week - we was chilling with the homies, laughing and chatting.  After catching up with everyone, we get into about some new music and new projects coming from each of these talented artists which led us into a distribution debate and honestly, Distrokid is bugging. Being music lovers and mainly Brooklyn natives we give everyone some nostalgia in discussing the 10 year anniversary of '1999' by Joey Bada$$ (slight morbid content here not gonna lie).  Since everyone here has done a Lingo Talk with The Lingo, we spin-off with a nice hot topic, "who is in the next class of the "greatest" rappers?"

On this majority mellow episode, The Lingo sits down with Richii Price, Flatbush native artist, to talk about the smooth sounds he be putting out.  We kick off with an entire Syracuse & NCAA tangent that somehow leads us to Narnia and the real hot take of the episode: "Bridge to Terebithia could've been Narnia." After all that though, we get into the real meat of the episode, discussing how ATM and Richii met at his group (Kings Circle) run event, Ice Cream Social; later getting into Richii's trilogy album, Positive Productions. We bounce around a lot with content regarding old music and new music he has dropping; as well as a lot of talk on Kings Circle and what it really is.  On this episode we talk about basketball, music, RICO charges and best of all new lingo to grace the episode's title: That's Larry.

BROKELAND IS BACK! On this hilarious episode we have returning guest, @Blkmfchrist (a.k.a. Savvy) and another member of the Brokeland collective, @tretheartist. Where do we even begin? After our initial catch-ups with Savvy and his recent Alvin Ailey tour, we dive into Tré's music journey and how it all started with Summer Youth funds. We talk on what seems to be the brand of Brokeland, working in house. We talk production and melodies and how making everything yourself just changes your overall musical process. If you know Brokeland, you know their "guerrilla marketing," as O called it, is their bread and butter. It makes them unforgettable.  On our latter half we speak on Money's SOB Performance, leading us into overall event curation and how performances impact us as artists. We wrap up with talks on rebound tracks, marketing tacts, (Fake) Brokeland Beef, and of course Lingo Talk with The Lingo. Hilarious content, even funnier collective.

On this very special episode, The Lingo taps in with Brooklyn born, Uptown raised artist MamaBlue to discuss a lil bit of everything. What made this episode super special was having her daughter, Nala, on set and that really framed a lot of our conversations on her start in music, performing, and the overall balance of being an artist and a mother, both full time. We tap into her most recent project, Dmgd GDS (Damaged Goods), the process of creating that and it ultimately leads us into a discussion of clout and what being a female rapper looks like. This episode is jam-packed with gems, great convo and of course, audio soundbites from the real guest, Nala.

This week, The Lingo is joined by Brooklyn native artist, Tao to chop it up about music, Cali, rap duo’s and much more. Recently coming off an LA trip, Tao recaps the music competition he went to participate in while also giving us a breakdown about why he only bought weed from… MedMen (of all places).  We jump around a lot on Tao’s first solo project, 28, and the things that went into making the project, specifically the track “Energy” with Llardobaby. We speak a lot on personality and how Tao may not seem approachable but is actually super friendly, in that also squashing some performance beef in the air, iykyk. All in all, great episode, even greater discussion. Tune in and much love. 

On this special episode The Lingo co-hosts are joined by the most elite, fly, and beautiful women to grace the front of a lens, Morgan (@mor.melanin) and Soko (@sokologyy).  We start with obvious flowers to our mutual friend, past guest, and amazing creative Zach (@mr.cloop__) for bringing ATM and both guests together for a photoshoot for his clothing brand, Cloopy; sparking the start of this collaborative friendship. The models take. us through an hour long journey touching base on everything from their own individual modeling journeys, specifically discussing the battlefield of being a “model” vs also trying to be everything else. They take us through their favorite photo spots, photo shoots they've done and also the joy and differences that exist between concept shoots and random street shoots.  From top to bottom, the episode is sprinkled with some of each models' top achievements as well as their goals looking forward. You didn't sit down with The Lingo unless you had Lingo Talk With The Lingo so the two Harlem natives add more slang to our dictionary. 

We love community and thanks to Escape2NYC's events, we've been able to continue to grow our network. This week, The Lingo sits down with Harlem native Prep Banks to really dive deep into his artistry and specifically his most recent project, Thanks For Listening.  After touching base on his roots in Harlem with dancing and getting lite, we tap into the A side of his project and eventually make the parallel between his project and Drake's Scorpion (just A side, B side comparison not sound). We discuss the influences that went into both sides of the project and what went into giving the public such a versatile project with so many sounds.  We wrap up on upcoming music moves and of course, Lingo Talk with The Lingo. On this outstanding and hilarious episode, The Lingo is joined by an amazing and talented musician, Jesediah A.K.A @jezmakesmusic. Being a Syracuse native, Jez takes us through the entire Syracuse the city VS. Syracuse University discourse, and how growing up there is really no joke (enters the episode title).  Taking us through his music journey, we touch on aspects of musicality, producing, curating and comparisons - really dissecting what these all encompass for Jez as an overall artist. Being a musician means performing and for Jez, not only is he no stranger to a stage, but he just came off one of his most notable performances, South By SouthWest.  We wrap up with discussions about specific songs on Jez's discography as well as a classic "Lingo Talk With The Lingo" and we finally got some new Lingo on the show!
