In this episode, I speak to Jordan about careers in the world of plant health, a topic I previously knew nothing about. As well as talking about her current job, Jordan tells me about her years travelling and how they influenced her interest in the environment, what she learnt on her masters and where her current job is taking her. I hope you enjoy listening to our conversation.

Hello and welcome back to the green files. I am really excited to share this episode as a collaboration with the Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside Wildlife Trust - part of the Wildlife Trust movement. The Wildlife Trust is a grassroots organisation comprised of regional charities. They have over 850,000 members and over 42,500 volunteers. In the conversation you are hearing today I got to know some of the youth council members from the Lancashire Manchester and North Merseyside Wildlife Trust.
The Youth Council is a group of people aged between 13-25 years old who are passionate about protecting their local environment and mobilising for change. The youth council ensures that young peoples voices are key to the decision making processes of environmental work. Katylily, Tasha and Daniel share what it is like being on a youth council, what they have learnt and advice they have for other young people who want to get stuck in to their local environments.

Janie and Ioan are a young couple who live in North Wales. They have two kids and they run a family business called Elidir Fencing which is a dry stone walling company. Janie went to university but Ioan went straight into work from a young age. This is something we talk about, as well as converting to more environmentally focused practices, reaching out to young people to preserve more practical trades in the green sector and also how to get more practical work experience as a young person. Enjoy!

This weeks episode is with Jonathan. Jonathan is the CEO of Stylecrate - a business that is trying to incorporate sustainability and the circular economy into the fashion industry. Jonathan tells us about his inspiration for Stylecrate, he defines what he believes to be the issues of fast fashion and he talks to me about what it is like to be in charge of your own business at the young age of 22.

Welcome to The Green Files.
This is my investigation into how one lands a job in the Green sector. For my first ever episode I chat to Ellen, a Geography Graduate from the University of Liverpool. She tells me what it was like to finish her degree during a pandemic, how she fared as a volunteer in the refugee camp in Calais, and how she found her first-ever grad job.
