Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies will forever be known as Amazon to GladFans. A self-confessed tomboy, she managed to break both arms when falling out of a tree as a child.

She desperately wanted to be called Ice, but the name was in use in the states so Amazon it was. But Sharron was concerned about losing her own identity as a swimmer in all the glamour of the show.

There was no time to practice and Sharron went into several games cold - which left her worrying about potential injuries. It was a battle between the competitive athlete and an entertainment show designed to look good on TV.

Would she do it again? Well she loved the people, the atmosphere and the joy it gave.
