Awesome Podcast!
I love The Broken Brain Podcast! Dwight does a fantastic job making psychotherapy accessible and informative. Every time I tune into an episode, I learn something new and feel uplifted.

Food for Thought
This podcast explores the topic of psychology through a variety of lenses, focusing in on different aspects of mental health, trauma, stigma, and more. Everything from anxiety to coping with loss to drug addiction. Not only is it rare to find a podcast exclusively dedicated to psychology and psychotherapy (though I’m quite sure there are plenty out there), but I find this show has the remarkable feature of being accessible to both laypeople and professionals alike.

Helpful and Insightful!
This show is so helpful and insightful! It’s helpful because topics include relatable experiences but with a psychotherapist’s commentary. Dwight’s on air personality is magnetic and he approaches each interview as a learning opportunity with humor even after more than 20 years of experience in mental health. How refreshing! My personal favorite episode is Secondhand Drinking with Lisa Fredricksen. I highly recommend this show. Hit subscribe!

Love the transparency!
I love the transparency of the show. It’s not from a place of I know everything but instead, I’m interested in learning. Great stuff!

Zoom
Good podcast so far but you mentioned using Zoom in your counseling practice. There must be so many ethical issues using that platform. Please consider using one that is HIPPA approved.

Ableist language and unprofessional
Hosts use ableist language quite often, sometimes mocking neurodivergent people. Insensitive and unprofessional. Lots of unnecessary dialogue and technical issues in audio production. Yikes!

Love it!
The non anxiety epsidoe had me thinking about the day I quit my job and started my own business. I felt a million times better but I have new goals and dreams that still stress me out becuase I want to succeed today. I know I am heading in the right direction and I constantly remind myself that it takes time. Overall, I love the tone of the show and it makes me feel like I am just a normal person like everyone else in this big crazy world. Thanks Dwight for sharing the good conversation like always :)

Geat show
I stumbled across the 10 minutes on suicide and really felt that Dwight really had some real good insight. I have had times in my life when others have reached out to be about their thoughts about death and I feel after hear him explain I feel more confident about the way I handled it

Friendly Psychology
Dwight takes his time and care to everyday social science issues and makes it relatable to all. It is as if one of my friends decided to have easygoing conversations with the topic of the day. Plus - I love the fact it is not vulgar. It is enjoyable for everyone!

Give it a go...
It's not for everyone, but it's a good show. Some people are a little over sensitive in some of these reviews, so just give it a try.

Psychology is entertaining
While I will admit to picking and choosing some of the more fun episodes, especially the movie related ones, Dwight and company are a great group to listen to and bring nice perspectives on psychology in general, enough that a relative lay person understands and enjoys.

Great insight, comical, and serious
As a mental health practitioner, this podcast addresses a diverse issues with experts from many fields. I have found it to be practical and insightful. It also gets me thinking about some of the issues practitioners face in a new light. The information is presented in a simple way, so it also beneficial for those just interested in mental health and who are not necessarily professionals in the field. I have even had my teenage son listen, and he quite enjoyed it and learned something!

Essential Listening for Life
As joy mongers, we try to seek joy in everything we do, but we also understand that it’s difficult and impossible at times. Sometimes our brains need some guidance. That’s where The Broken Brain comes in. Dwight, the host, is thoughtful, smart, and knowledgeable about the nuances of the brain, why we act certain ways, and you never come away from listening without something tangible to think about and apply to your own life. Truly special show! - Jess and Non, Joy Sandwich Podcast

Wow to the Wow
What a find! How did I get by without this fun and informative banter from highly educated and experienced mental health care professionals. I must say it has raised my own self-regard, especially writing this review. ---Dwight Hurst Creator & Host of The Broken Brain

Great
A good mix of humor and a serious look at mental health. They keep it simple enough that I understood the various issues without feeling like they are talking down to someone who isn’t a mental health professional.
