Fausto C. Interview
Wow, what a story. What a journey. One question I would’ve liked to ask as a listener, and Shane you asked the right question, are we getting the real Fausto? Is this another character? There was a lot of excitement built up that almost seemed a little manic at times, especially being only a month removed from a suicide attempt, I get concerned for his safety and whether his new podcast is an attempt to recreate another character, or born out of deep self-examination. I hope his time away serves him well and allows him to re-center and be his authentic self, someone that doesn’t have to always cater to the needs of others. Someone who can just be. To Shane- Fausto was right when he said you’re really good at interviewing. I’ve always found you authentic, empathetic, open to reflection and willing to look deep within yourself. Keep doing your thing man, whatever that may be today or in the future. Peace and abundance in all the things that really matter in this life.

Love your Podcast
Thank you so much for what you do Shane. You truly are an inspiration to me. You are the first Recovery based Podcast I started listening to after about a year into my sobriety. I have been listening to your Podcast for about a year now. I am truly thankful that I found you and I appreciate you so much. On July 1st of this year I celebrated 2 years of sobriety and I'm still keeping it strong. I have tried multiple times to get sober but could never stay sober. This is the longest I have been sober. I never thought recovery life was possible. Thought I would never say this but I am loving life and am a work in progress. To be honest it's been a tough couple years but worth every second. I have so many tools that I learned that I am using in my recovery and am capable and aware. This way of life is teaching me so much to accept and to trust. I'm so Grateful to be apart of the solution and to help others the best I can. Again thank you Shane and keep strong. Much love.

Finally found the courage to listen
I first heard about your podcast in 2022 while listening to the dad edge podcast. I was a dry drunk then and was trying to go it alone. I wanted to listen to you then but I was too scared to admit to myself that I was an Alcoholic. I predictably went back out and finally got sober on Feb 14th this year. I’m 72 days in and your podcast has been a big part of my program. You inspired me to start my own podcast about being a Sober dad and I will be launching sometime next month. I just want to say thanks for all the great content. Jon S.

Episode 413
I love this podcast. But episode 413 was complete garbage . That guy just talked about how amazing he is the whole the time , romanticized drug and alcohol use , preached his personal judgements about other people . Worst episode yet.

I like it, but more about $
I love the podcast, but all the resources he has, you have to pay for. Makes me wonder if he genuinely cares or is trying to turn a profit.

Wish Episodes Were Longer
My opinion on Pods is I keep listening if I’m interested, and makes me want to listen to more episodes if I’m relating to the guests. I get having more guests on to spread other recovery content creators, but I wish I could really DIG into peoples stories. Why the “well we only have a little more time left” statement?

Not only a podcast
To me this podcast is more about AA. It is about life and what it deals us. I enjoy listening to the podcast at work, home, and my way to AA. Keep it up

More than just a podcast
The episodes have not only helped me but have gave me a sense of things to do expect during recovery. Shane does a great job being a realist and not some fake person trying to give you advice. The stories, the advice, the situational help is great that you get from this podcast.

Good episode
Inspirational ideas. Was always a functional drinker. Best friend and I had bad words and he shot himself an hour later. It’s been a five year battle since.I have felt haunted. I’m working with the VA to clean up soon. Great words. I’ll listen some more. Thank you

Honest and Fun!
That Sober Guy and his fabulous wife, who does guest appearances from time to time, are the real deal. I listen and learn. Thank you for being a voice that gives hope and faith. Brilliant.

Shane rocks!
Just recently started to listen to this podcast because we are back in the office and I listen on my commute. Shane is real, raw and a good interviewer. Love to listen and relate to his recovery on a lot of levels. Really good stuff. Grateful there are people that speak their truth.

Awesome podcast
If you like something raw and real then this is it. Shane speaks through this podcast in my opinion like we are just friends having a conversation. This has been very beneficial and is part of my daily routine staying sober. Super cool dude and will respond if you drop an email! Keeping it personal. Also many many great resources for sobriety.

Enjoy every podcast
With all the COVID-19 going on and a new work schedule it’s very hard to get to a meeting. Really enjoy listening to the podcast. After listening to your most recent podcast I wanted to edit my review. First off enjoy the podcast it has been my recharge for the week with being unable to get to a meeting with work and everything going on. One of my biggest support is my wife she has been there for me from day one. Keep up the great work And thank you for your time in making this podcast

Great stuff
Been sober for 35 years, only by the Grace of God. Still get anxiety and fear issues. Use meditation to help ease those times. Found this and boy, did this hit home. All my issues whatever it’s financial, famil or health issues will all add to my anxiety. And anyone that deals with the paralyzing fear will understand. Listening to this podcasts has totally helped me. I am a Christian lady, so God has been good to me. But I still have problems that can overwhelm me. These days I do a lot of Zoom meetings so I still have my meetings. Thank God I found this podcasts that help in this covid era.

Listen for the first time today gave me a much needed boost! Very refreshing to hear a guy talk like a real dude and not a super liberal douche bag.

Seems as though Shane has lost sight.
The podcast was enjoyable a year or two ago but its evident that Shane is incapable of keeping his political views out of the podcast and does very little research into the developing world of recovery.

Waste of Time
Don’t waste your time. I was really excited to find this podcast and very disappointed. Listening to first 10 minutes of his Thanksgiving show, he comes across like a boisterous d bag. Zero etiquette or thoughtfulness. Sounds like a high school or college kid who thinks saying the F word constantly makes him tough or cool. And why be disrespectful to health care workers who are sacrificing everything to keep people alive? Thousands of families have lost loved ones to COVID and you call it a hoax. What kind of ignorant tool do you have to be? If you really care to be a positive influence on others struggling with alcohol, grow up and learn to speak with wisdom and tact.

Recovery is about overcoming fear.
I love this podcast! It’s helped so much in my recovery. I’m celebrating 18 months of sobriety today. 9 months pre-pandemic and 9 months post-pandemic. And the biggest part of my recovery is not living in fear. I love that Shane has been pointing out that the whole point of this “pandemic” is control. The easiest way to control a population is to make them afraid. An alcoholic in active addiction is driven by a hundred forms of fear, I am not going to add Covid to that list. I refuse to live in fear. Thank you for what you are doing Shane!

BEWARE TRUMPETER!!!!
I’ve rarely listened to old episodes, thought podcast was just OK, much better recovery-podcasts out there!!!! I just listened to part of THEIR T-Giving RANT, and realized they’re Trump-Fanatics—who r denying the TRUTH about Covid. I AM SO GRATEFUL “Joe Biden” is our next president, & people like Shane will become IRRELEVANT, just like Trump... Adios, and who gives a crap about what you think. Stick 2 Recovery IDIOT!!!!

Singleness of Purpose - Shane Doesn’t Have It
Ranting on divisive issues is a way to divide people, not help them get sober. Also, big claim that he keeps people sober. Use caution.
MMckennzie
Is this about sobriety or conspiracy theories?!?!?
For a podcast that purports to be about sobriety, very little sobriety or recovery makes the cut lately. Instead, Shane just rants about COVID, our “overlords” and “plannedemic”. Can’t recommend.

Wish I could still listen...
I am in the midst of early sobriety and your podcast was really helping me on that journey. However, I am not able to see past some of the political views and misinformation that you are spreading on your platform, especially regarding COVID. I'm all for ignoring draconian orders, but encouraging your listeners to travel and attend gatherings is irresponsible. Comparing COVID to the flu is irresponsible. it was actually triggering to try and listen to your latest episode and my guess is you are going to alienate much of your audience. I need support to make it through the holidays, and unfortunately will be looking elsewhere.

The absolute best
I came across this podcast almost three months ago when I was hungover as hell on the Fourth of July. I have never been someone to admit my drinking problem or talk about it openly, but after listening to that first episode, I felt a shift and knew I wasn’t alone anymore. I don’t know if it was the tattoos, excessive cursing, or SnapBack hat that caught and kept my attention while browsing sobriety podcasts, but I sure am glad I found it. Shane, Seth & their team have definitely helped change my life and I am coming up on 90 days! -Kiki

I can’t support this podcast anymore
I used to recommend this podcast, but unfortunately I can no longer recommend it. This is a real shame because the spiritual and recovery insights this host had to offer when I first got sober were helpful and helped me to become more comfortable with the whole higher power concept of 12 step programs. But recently, I realized he and his wife are condoning the spread of misinformation and conspiracy theories, which I find extremely problematic since they have such a large following, AND they’re also mental health advocates. So, I don’t understand how they support and spread such harmful narratives, which are in fact harmful to the mental health to people, but then also say mental illness like depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, addiction, etc. all need to be taken more seriously and should not be stigmatized. It’s extremely hypocritical and damaging! And that aside, anyone who is new to recovery or who are sober curious will NOT get a healthy example of what a person active in their recovery process looks like when listening to this podcast any longer. It used to be good. He got a little preachy at times. I sometimes felt like I was listening to a minister. But I always made myself sit in that discomfort because I understand it is good to feel uncomfortable sometimes. Recovery requires us to be critical thinkers because the programs “demands rigorous honesty.” So I’m not sure what happened here. This host needs to take a step back and really consider the damage he is doing by spreading conspiracy theories not only to his audience, but for his family and friends. And he should probably find a new news source while he takes a hiatus. Check your sources guys! No matter what you believe the virus is real and it is deadly, which in the end, recovery aside, is kind of all the matters.

Helped me ....but....
Dude Shane your awesome with the recovery topics. I’m sorry man , but the July 24th episode you sound off your rocker dude. Iv never turned you off but after your “we’re programmed” rant after the insane talk about the covid ....wow dude. Take some time off and just chill with your family.

Politics & recovery don’t mix well
I wish the host took a hint from Tradition Ten. Ep331 veered a bit too heavily into politics.

I can go on and on saying how much I enjoy your show, your guests, your humor, and how now instead of my own voice in my head talking to me I sometimes find myself hearing your voice and clips of your podcasts reminding myself of to just keeping it simple stupid but I really just want to say THANK YOU FOR HELPING IN SAVING MY LIFE AND BEING THERE EVERY TIME I NEED TO JUST HEAR A POSITIVE WORD. I CAN ALWAYS FIND YOUR VOICE OF INSPIRATION AND HOPE SOMEWHERE. You are a bass ass and pretty rad too. Sincerely biash420jones

The light shine through the broken please share live on a new podcast.
Hey Shane just wanted to tell you man you have helped me more than you’ll ever know. Listening to your podcast is the first thing I put on every mourning on my way to work. Always waiting for the next podcast to drop. Your topics of discussion I feel are one of the best on I tunes as far as recovery podcast go. I’ll end with you have helped me find my GOD of my understanding again because my last relapse I turned my back on him unintentionally. But I was taught that the light will always shine through for those who were broken. Your the man! Keep your blood clean. -Mike S... the real “Spin Bad”...

Great help in my journey!
I started listening to this podcast about 2 months ago, and it has become one of my favorites. Shane talks straight and real, so much so that it now feels like he is a friend of mine. Very relatable and down to earth, this podcast has become one of many tools in my recovery. Check it out, it’s awesome!

You Don’t Have To... But It Helps
Great podcast!! It helps me to hear other people’s stories. Unfortunately my self gratification is not what this show is always about. Keep doing what you do and in the way you want to do it. Strong work.

Game Changer
After a failed attempt at sobriety without working a program I went back to rehab and tried again. This time I got a sponsor and started going to meetings. Thank god the gift of desperation outweighed the fear of the unknown. That’s where the Sober Guy came in. Even though I had the support of my family and friends this journey was mine and in the beginning was lonely and intimidating. I had no friends in sobriety besides my sponsor. I had no frame of reference on the feelings I was having or any idea what a sober life was supposed to look or feel like. By accident I stumbled across the sober guy and I was immediately hooked. I heard Shane share in his story a lot of the things I was feeling. I finally felt a sense of normality for the first time in a long time. That was five months ago and I still listen almost daily. I have since made sober friends and connections, still working my steps with my sponsor, and I chair a meeting one night a week. This podcast let me know that I wasn’t hopeless, and I was on the right path.

I had the honor of being a guest on Shane’s podcast. He is such a great guy who is out here doing Gods work helping people stay sober one day at a time. This is such a great podcast!

Wonderful podcast
This podcast is so entertaining. Shane has great energy and this podcast helped me through so many day 1’s. The one episode almost convinced me to go to a flip phone but how would I listen to this podcast!! Love the show.

Thank you!
I’ve dealt with addiction to alcohol and drugs for over 20 years. I was a functional addict and decided there has to be more to life, I was tired of telling myself I’m not going to drink today and found myself drunk by 10pm. Tired of missing out on life! I decided to stop everything about a week ago and your podcast helps me EVERYDAY! Thank you

Ray of Hope
Shane, I listen to you daily. My husband has been struggling with alcoholism for at least three years now-estranged from our family. I pray every day for his recovery, while I try to work on myself. It took a long time for me to realize I cannot fix this. I don’t know what to do, I miss him terribly. I attend AlAnon here and there-I get through my days the best I can. Your pod casts are an inspiration to me. You are compassionate not only to people who struggle with addiction, but towards the families who suffer terribly as well. You provide some hope. Thank you so much for that.

Love this podcast!
I just started really commuting for work the past month and as a result I haven’t been able to make it to as many meetings as I used to. Listening to Shane has been awesome and has completely helped keep my recovery feeling fresh and gets my mind in a The right space for my day. I work at an inpatient treatment center here in Washington state and I’m also in recovery myself. So I need all the reminders and insight and inspiration I can get! Thank you again for making this podcast.

My go-to daily recovery listen
This podcast has been incredibly helpful to me—I ran across it when I first started working the steps. I appreciate Shane’s honesty and authenticity, and I find a ton of what he says relatable as a fellow husband and father in recovery, trying to stay straight for myself and my family. Also, road rage? I get it dude. I’m a little over 6 months sober today (grateful recovering alcoholic, among other things). All glory to God, man.

Keeping me focused on recovery
Thank you Shane for TSG podcast!! I actually found your podcast about a year ago when I was searching for a CR podcast. I love your honesty! Unfortunately I succumbed to my addiction shortly after. I’m back and now I’m working the steps and have 1 week of sobriety today! I’m going to AA meetings every day and I have a sponsor. Even still I find I need a positive distraction very often in these early days to remind me why I’m doing this. I signed up for your 90 day course and it really has been so helpful!! That and hearing what’s working for you and your guests is really opening my mind to the possibility that I can have a new life. Realizing that alcohol is only a tool I used to deal with my issues and not the whole problem, something you mentioned in a podcast, was an epiphany really. Thank you for your service!!! Also, I am local and LOVE the podcasts you did with Pastor Dave and Tim Bittle. Would love to hear more from our leadership at TFH. Thanks!!

Keep it up!
This is a great podcast that focuses on sobriety, but often branches off into other aspects of life. I’ve particularly enjoyed how recently Shane has discussed his journey into fitness/CrossFit. I’ve listened to this podcast on and off for years as I have been sober on and off in recent years. Currently sober for the past month and have also focused on improving my fitness as a big part of that. I hope that Shane keeps us updated as to how his health/fitness is going as well as continuing to have guests from the fitness world. Keep up the good work!
