Emily is a fantastic storyteller and writer. It’s fast paced, never losing my attention. She’s very funny and understands movies on a deep level, she notices things about films that I thought I was the only one who noticed ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Emily is great. She gives a perspective that us everyday people think of these movies. She doesn’t pander to the high grossing, Oscar winning, artsy films just because that is what she is suppose to do. I have been introduced to movies that I didn’t even know were out there and enjoyed them. Keep up the good work Emily.

Emily is so funny and has a great opions of movies along with some obscure recommendations we’ve turned out to love. Emily does a wonderful job on this podcast giving notice of spoilers and is mindful that everyone had their own perspective on a movie. She does a tireless and thankless job of keeping up with this podcast and needs more appreciation!

Just recently found this podcast and I’m so glad I did. Emily is super fun. This podcast is super smart and gives food for thought. I love she detailed and gives a lot of cool tidbit information. She is so smart and astute in making her assessments about the movies, themes and get to the meat of the context of the films.

I particularly enjoyed The Exorcist vs Enchanted and Saw vs Red Eye were both amazing. This is like Bechdel on steroids. So fantastic. Iliza, I used to watch your stand up back in the day when you did that bit as the lizard lady making velociraptor sounds. I was trying to find that but I couldn't.. I hope to make it to Eatontown next weekend!! Still working out logistics. I loved Good on Paper!!! I think it definitely deserves higher than 50%. The characters were spot on. Ferris Bueller vs Cruel Intentions is one of the funniest & most creative takes on these movies I have ever heard! I have not seen either of these movies since high school & had to go back & rewatch with this new lens! Ferris Bueller has not aged well! Iconic & brilliant podcast! Fan for life!!! I’ve only been listening since the beginning of the year. This was my favorite show to date. Impressed by how prepared you are for these shows.

I love Emily’s takes on her picks every week! I have emphatically agreed with her a lot, and have been inspired to watch some movies that I didn’t really give a chance when they first came out. I am a movie buff, so it’s just enjoyable to hear someone give their balanced reviews and Emily always makes me laugh. Love the pod!

Is she monotone? Yes. Is it also calming? Yes! Does she see the value in movies others won’t touch but have known to be severely underrated such as Josie and the pussycats and Zeon? Of course she does. This is a podcast to to show people just because there are movie snobs out there who dislike your movies, there is also a high probability they are too full of themselves to have fun at a movie if something about is not groundbreaking or perfectly executed. Tasteless helps you discover films long lost, distant cousin relatives in the film community and if you are into that journey, give it a taste. I love how I may have only heard of one of the movies she is going to discuss only to be lead to its low budget relative thats also as good, if not better.

Honestly I’m not a huge movie person more of a tv binger, but the way you describe in such hilarious and accurate detail of all these movies is so enjoyable! I don’t even feel the need to re watch the movies you discuss and the movies you talk about that I haven’t seen yet you describe in just a really great way that I feel like I’ve all ready watched it! When you introduced Strong Female Leads it was a very refreshing take on interviewing these great women! Thank you for your show and all the work you do for it!!

Emily will frustrate you, I promise, dear listener. When her new episodes hit your feed you'll be like, she's reviewing WHAT? And you go into it wanting to not listen, but therein lies her genius. She breaks down both movies and makes a great case for why you should check out her other suggestion in lieu of the more popular film, even if it's one she loves. The comparions are always excellently written. She is also a great interviewer in the Strong Female Leads series, which has been an incredible listen. Such a big fan, Emily. Thank you for all you do.

I’ve only listened to about 6 episodes as of writing this, but that’s already 12 movies I can watch, or rewatch with new information gathered from these in depth synopses. Higs does a wonderful job juxtaposing two unlikely couples and finds similarities that make you really question what you’re watching to find more about the why behind the how. If you want a quick but thorough podcast, these 30-40 minute info packed episodes are just what you need. 10/10 would recommend. 5 stars. She’s her own Ebert and Roeper. Or Siskel and Ebert depending on your generation. 2 thumbs up.

As a person who prefers to read movie synopses instead of watching the actual movie, I am obsessed with Emily telling me about movies.

It’s so much better. Emily has such a great perspective on the movies she’s discussing and it’s so much fun hearing her draw comparisons to two seemingly very different films. She’s got a great voice and sense of humor, too. Definitely a pod worth trying out!

I found this Podcast about twoish months ago and decided to listen from the beginning. I Love movies. And I was delighted by this format of comparing a well regarded movie with one that you may not have heard of. Because the episodes are concise (& I listen at 1 1/2 times spread) I have now listened to all of the AMAZING episodes!! Although I don’t always agree (ROCKY is an amazing movie!!) I enjoy the attention brought to the lesser known movie. Although I was many episodes in before I came across a movie that I had not personally seen, I now have a list of movies I can’t wait to see. I highly recommend. Also Strong Female Leads is a very natural evolution & welcome addition!!

I’m not a movie buff, but Emily’s takes are always so interesting! Thought provoking, funny, and her ability to pit films against each other that seemingly have nothing in common (only to be schooled on how they do), is definitely entertaining. Her interviews are great as well. Even on the occasion where I don’t agree with her picks, I always respect her analysis. Thanks for the fun, Emily!

A great podcast for fans of movies or anyone looking for movie suggestions! Emily has not lead me wrong once with a movie suggestion. Her lists are now my go to when I am looking for something new to watch!
