– The wrestle to control the natural man. Paul encourages us to not be ashamed of the gospel of Christ.

– Finding balance while living a Christ-centered life in Rome was a challenge for these saints. It is through Christ that we are all saved.

– The Greek understanding of charis (grace) is reciprocal; we give grace to God, and He imparts grace as our relationship grows. We fall short in deeds, but God’s gift of grace makes us righteous.

– Contrasting the consequences of Adam’s sin with the benefits of Christ’s unwavering obedience. We are reconciled to God through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

– The symbolism and significance of baptism. Paul invites us to crucify the “old man,” or the natural man.
