– The wrestle between listening to the flesh and following the law.
– Paul likens Israel and the law to a relationship with a woman and her husband.
– The war with the natural man is everyone’s struggle. The Book of Mormon enlightens our understanding.
– Paul writes, “to be carnally minded is death.”
– Being God’s children and “joint-heirs with Christ.”
– Pain is not evidence that we have been abandoned by God.
– God’s plan for the House of Israel and the Gentiles being adopted in.
– Practical advice to live as Saints.
– Paul encourages his hearers to subject themselves to the worldly powers of his day. Paul likely had the expectation that Jesus would come soon and introduce a new kingdom.
– “Put on” Christ. This use of the Greek word “enduo” may relate to being invested with sacred clothing and connected to the Endowment.
– Avoid doubtful disputations, quarreling about opinions, and making unrighteous judgements. The Saints are encouraged to accept one another in love.
– Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is the Christ. The gifts of the Spirit are poured out upon the Gentiles.
– According to Christian history, Paul preaches in Spain. This record is not contained in the New Testament.
