Anette Landeros is the President and CEO of the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. She sat down with attorney Ty Stimpson and talked about growing up humbly in San Antonio and her unconventional path to the helm of one of the state's most influential and successful Hispanic non-profit business organizations. The FWHCC celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.#anettelanderos #fwhhc #takethisdownAnette Landeros grew up in San Antonio, the daughter of Mexican immigrants who instilled the importance of education and civic engagement in her from a young age. After high school graduation, she attended Saint Mary's University but quickly decided she couldn't afford private school. Without her parent's knowledge, she worked behind the scenes to secure a full-ride scholarship to Indiana University in Bloomington. She earned a degree in public policy, then moved to Austin, where she obtained her master's degree in public policy at the University of Texas. From there, Anette headed to Washington D.C. to pursue her dream of working for the federal government. She loved her job at the U.S. Department of Transportation Inspector General's Office but missed Texas and longed for a sense of community. Fortunately, her company transferred her to a regional office in Fort Worth. As soon as she arrived in Fort Worth, Anette felt at home. She began volunteering and serving on numerous non-profits, committees, and boards - including the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Her dedication to service, combined with her natural leadership skills and public policy background, didn't go unnoticed. When the president position became open, she was encouraged to throw her hat into the ring.
