Daphne Barlow Stigliano is the President and CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Tarrant County. She sat down with attorney Ty Stimpson and talked about how volunteering at the BGCGTC in graduate school turned into a full-time job and a lifelong career. She rose through the ranks and, at age 31, found herself at the helm of the non-profit organization - which is now the largest Boys & Girls Club in Texas and serves an estimated 32,000 community youth each year.#daphnestigliano #boysandgirlsclub #BGCGTC #takethisdownDaphne is a self-described "dreamer," a woman who has always wanted to "change the world for good." She grew up in Tulsa, Okla., where she attended one of the first integrated high schools - an experience that allowed her to see life through a different lens. After high school, she took a gap year and moved to South Africa to work at an HIV-positive orphanage - another experience that she said inspired her and continued to shape her as a leader. Daphne later went to college at Oklahoma State University, where she graduated with a degree in microbiology and considered becoming a doctor. She started working in a microbiology lab in Fort Worth, but decided to go back to school to get a graduate degree in public health at UNT Health Science Center. While in grad school, she started volunteering during the holidays at the BGCGTC and found her "home." At age 31, then a mother of three young children, Daphne was named CEO of BGCGTC and oversaw an operating budget of $5.5 million. Today, BGCGTC has an operating budget of $15.5 million and serves three times as many kids as when she started. But Daphne says she's not even close to being done yet.
