Dark Phoenix (aka X-Men 7)
1 hour 46 minutes Posted Sep 5, 2019 at 9:25 pm.
(1:00) first X-Men movie not named X-Men, smart move Jackman missing this one, does the Dark Phoenix comic saga translate, changing channels with eyes mutant power, scrolling on Netflix, jostling around, Captain Marvel similarities, two '90 movies, Why aren't these characters old, want to see what aged X-Men between Dark Phoenix & X-Men 1, aging theory from Days of Future Past to fix the timeline!
Doctoring Dark Phoenix version #1, Apocalypse creates full nuclear disarmament, not so Apocalypse after all, creating a worldview only through television, downfall of Nightcrawler, X-Men attractiveness, James Marsden has charisma, bland actors becoming charismatic actors, two X-Men in Tragedy Girls, Jennifer Lawrence a bad actor if only basing off X-Men, thankfully we have David O. Russell movies, poorly used Mystique powers, Zoe Kravitz as Mystique, ugly uniforms, First Class only good scene is a brief Jackman cameo, Matrix leather costumes in first X-Men, Matthew Vaughan wanted Future's Past to be the trilogy ender, Tron with mutants, Oscar Isaac at Cinemacon, Vin Diesel as Apocalypse
defending Apocalypse, value in bad sequels, McAvoy going from drug addict to funny man to villain, his fear on two fronts, Is Nichols Hoult a good actor?, color changes in A Single Man, Tesla, blonde hair, lack of chemistry between Lawrence & Hoult, film only interesting considering production issues
Why is Jessica Chastain in this movie?, The Huntsman, love of Emily Blunt as an ice queen, Huntsman>Snow White,* hard for directors to convey tone, why a movie watch list given out, Kirsten Stewart as a James Marsden type [bland to charismatic]
did Fox sabotage the film knowing it was Disney's loss, pushed back so Captain Marvel came out first, Simon Kinberg said ending was structured off of Captain America: Civil War, Sophie Turner is a star, why not focus solely on Jean Grey like Logan, why did that movie cost so much?, researching schizophrenia & dissociative personality disorder, doing bad things and it feels good, Stanford Prison Experiment & power dynamics, melding into groupthink & roles
digesting a film over time, low expectations, heavy dramatic music without building drama from previous iterations, loving Hans Zimmer's score, refusing to do comic book movies [temporarily], comparing versions of Spiderman, Amazing Spiderman mumblecore humor, Tom Holland as the 1st Peter Parker due to him looking young, what will Marvel do with X-Men in MCU, LSD X-Men, Total Rekall Stan Lee Cameos
Dark Phoenix=Captain Marvel, issue with female superheroes having undefinable powers, Storm has become Raiden, is Storm to blame for climate change, Skrulls suppose to be in Dark Phoenix, woman Don Draper
Magneto's storyline, island of outcast mutants, Hans Zimmer's desire to score every superhero character in existence, making music for 7th film in a series, his great understudies: Harry Gregson-Williams, Ramin Djawadi,Nick Glennie-Smith, John Powell, Marc Streitenfeld, collab w/ Pharrell & Junkie XL & Benjamin Wallfisch, Hans Zimmer as a brand name
why do the same storyline twice with the same guy to fix it, franchise shepherd, "a beautiful lie" from Batman v Superman is a great track, what really brought Hans Zimmer back, he's the best, are superhero movies a genre?, purple alien cloud diminishes story about mental breakdown, page vs screen, The Last Stand scene is great (even though we remember it differently), cafe at end of Dark Phoenix identical to cafe at the end of The Dark Knight Rises, the cafe of superheroes
opening identical to Shazam!, is every scene stolen from a different superhero film?, keep mother's death by Jean a secret to both her & the audience, not using Quicksilver right, Quicksilver Apocalypse> Quicksilver Future's Past
script doctor pitch time, smaller movie with Jean as the focale, why not start right after Apocalypse, nukes floating around in outer space, last week on... X-Men, mutants as fugitives on the run, genre diversification, changing how she murders her mom, seeing from Dad's point of view, Wanda Maximoff, Quicksilver MCU vs Quicksilver Fox, making mutants the majority
casting Scarlett Witch [little girl in Future's Past], other pitch based off House of M comic saga, retconning Apocalypse, Magneto as an absentee father, understanding reality, Magneto as the President, a Führer, becoming what he hates most, Elizabeth Olsen playing two Scarlett Witches, Florence Pugh & Jane Levy & Jessica Chastain, 13 going on 30 as an X-Men film
no Lana Condor, sad to see Deadly Class cancelled, Jubilee is an icon character, does this movie need to exist, Nathan Rabin, Dazzler party scene, Dreadlock snake mutant man, aliens that run directly into death, Kota Eberhardt, cinematography so important to making mutant powers believable
