With all that's plaguing our world these days, it's so easy to focus on the negative, right?! UGH! Well, I finally gave in and started a gratitude journal and the results have been amazing!
This episode is all about how SHI(f)TING your mindset from the bad to the good can bring about peace and joy even when things are less than ideal.
If you start journaling after this, you HAVE to let me know!

I thought it would be an insightful social experiment to hear what young people thought of the police at various stages in life. So in this episode I talked with a kids who range in age from three years old to 17 years old. It was a good illustration of the shifts from innocence to reality and I hope it adds value to you as a listener. Seeing life through the lens of a child can wake us up to things that should be so simple but have somehow been distorted as we grow older and experience more life.
Thank you to the parents of my guests for permitting me to interview your amazing children.
Thank you so very much to Jayley, Blake, Addyson, Shayla, Allyn, Emma and Elena for being brave and giving of your time!

After a few weeks off for reflection and inspiration, I am back!
Joining me is my Badass cousin Perlesta (I call her Lita) and we are talking about maneuvering life and the Black Lives Matter Movement as biracial women. We are NOT the spokeswomen for all things biracial (do I even need to say that?) but I feel our shared experiences have merit and maybe others have felt the same way.
I kinda quoted Audre Lorde, but here's the quote in its glorious entirety:
"Black and Third World people are expected to educate white people as to our humanity. Women are expected to educate men. Lesbians and gay men are expected to educate the heterosexual world. The oppressors maintain their position and evade their responsibility for their own actions. There is a constant drain of energy which might be better used in redefining ourselves and devising realistic scenarios for altering the present and constructing the future." ~ Audre Lorde

Today is Father's Day and I had to recognize some of the fathers in my tribe.
Editing this episode filled me with tears; tears of hope and pride. Our world is looking pretty bleak lately and hearing the love that these men pour into their children makes me confident that their generation will be filled with confident, proud, faith-filled, peace-seeking men and women.
I love you all.
Happy Father's Day:
Roderick, Gabaral, Mr. Haggerty, Edafe, Jack, Mike, Fitz, Kareem H., Cliff, Robert, Sam, Berto, Ricky, Kareem S., Cody, and Chris.
