This edition welcomes The Soviet Space Dog Project with atmospheric experimentation into a full-flight sequencer fest. René G. Boscio is an LA-based Puerto Rican composer best known for his unique blend of acoustic and Latino instruments with modern experimental electronics—deep ambient music from Poland by Stefan Weglowski. The album ‘Paradoxum’ outlines Matteo Cambò’s musical journey and presents itself as an invitation to explore the fusion between human experiences, sonic experimentation, and enchantment. Synthesist Tim Stebbing was part of the league of UK’s DIY electronic music artists in the mid-80s with a new single, ‘Gnome Sequence’, 10 minutes of sequencing Berlin-style, arpeggiation, and synthesised washes of sound over the top. Happy New Year to all our friends & listeners from the team, Mike, Andy and, of course, our host, Karen. Moving house over Christmas has been a busy time for me. Now in temporary accommodation with my daughter & son-in-law before another move later in the year back to the UK. Since starting Sequences in a cupboard (yes, you heard it right) with just a cassette machine, I have come full circle being back in a cupboard again while most of my possessions are in storage with just one trusty Mac computer to work on. This edition will be the only podcast for this month due to the upheaval of the last few weeks. This month’s first edition will be our last podcast featuring a full lineup of different musicians, with the finale for this year just before the Christmas holiday, another special on a well-respected band and their various solo and other projects. Those who join us for the first time on Sequences are Terminus Void’s ambient music from Seattle-based American musician. Peruvian avant-garde artist Manongo Mujica uses a fusion of electronics and cello percussion, creating a sound montage of immersive, hypnotic atmospheres. Two from Projekt, Alain Elettronico remixes from the label’s artists, uptempo melodies & rhythm-driven tracks and Swedish composer Henrik Meierkord, who uses the cello as his main instrument to create minimalistic ambient pieces. The View From Vega, an unashamedly vintage-sounding album in all its analogue glory from Ben Edwards, better known by his pseudonym Benge, has six tracks that slowly unfold their oscillations in organic melodic soundscapes. Ice Planet 9000’s track ‘Great Cloud’ is a celestial odyssey featuring cosmic soundscapes and music that ascend through a swirling super-massive nebula. We leave you with our two female musicians. Anna Wall’s album ‘Dream Theory’ is about music connecting to our conscious and subconscious mind, exploring sounds across the ambient and experimental spectrum, with Maddy Briggs, an electroacoustic composer based in Sydney, recycles organ and piano recordings as a living, breathing sonic atmosphere.
