In a world of fast food, cheap packaging and easy one order clicks, it can be hard to sift through all the options and find food that not only tastes good but is good for you and the environment. There is a massive issue with today’s food system, with most of what we eat being saturated in excess sugar, dye, gum, filler ingredients and preservatives. Yet, beyond all of this is a group of independent thinkers and movers who are determined to build a community based on real food! In today’s episode, I am talking to Jessica Young, founder of online marketplace Bubble, an online hub that curates hundreds of snacks and food items that adhere to the strictest standards of the food industry. Jess is on a mission to connect people with food that features clean ingredients, that are producers and sources response and that actually taste good! During our conversation, Jess speaks about her experience in culinary school and as a private chef which eventually led her to start her own business. She share her insights into food accessibility and supply chain which she learned during her time at Daily Harvest, transparency in the food industry, and what she would have told her 20-year-old self before starting her own business. In this episode, we cover:
- Jess shares more about herself, her experience as an incubator mentor, and how she became an entrepreneur
- Food should be healthy and accessible
- Scaling, partnerships, and transparency in the food industry and at Bubble
- Jess’s favorite health and wellness routines
- Sales and scale with Bubble
- The best advice for pivoting and starting your own business
