What is deconstruction and why are so many evangelicals engaged with it? This episode of Perspectives with Pastor Lance from NCF of Sacramento continues our interview with Minister James Petropoulos on some of the issues, questions and even challenges to evangelical Christianity.  We address some of the factors that motivate deconstruction as well as some of its positive aspects. We end with a ministry initiative called Beer and the Bible led by Minister James that seeks to address some of the issues raised by deconstruction.

Perspectives with Pastor Lance opens our second season with an interview with James Petropoulos. James grew up in Sacramento and after coming to faith in his early 20's got connected with Pastor Lance through a friend of his. We cover James' call to ministry, early ministry activity, what led him to Westminster Seminary West, how the Lord led him back to Sac and the special blessing God gave him while in seminary.

We end our first season of Perspectives with Pastor Lance with an interview with Dr. Tim LeCroy. Dr. LeCroy serves as a PCA pastor and adjunct professor at Covenant Seminary. We spoke with him concerning his role as the chair of the PCA Ad Interim Committee on Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault. This week’s PWPL revisits the topic of mental health and well-being. We spoke with Dawn Lewis-Robinson (MMFT) about various issues relating to our mental health and well-being. We discussed the importance of removing the stigma of mental illness, some of the more prevalent mental health issues affecting our society along with a few ways we can improve our mental health. 

Today's PWPL encourages us to use our imagination to see our neighbors as the image-bearers they truly are. We sat down with Dr. Mary McCampbell. Dr. McCampbell serves as a Humanities Professor, Author, and Speaker. Her book, Imagining Our Neighbors as Ourselves: How Art Shapes Empathy, looks at the part narrative art plays in cultivating our empathy for others. This week PWPL takes our first but not last look at the issue of trauma. We interview Pastor Lance's good friend, Michele Neverdon. Michele is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. Our initial discussion probed the reality of trauma, some of the signs we've experienced trauma along with some of the ways the church can faithfully minister to those who've suffered through trauma.
