Aaron and I had known each other since 2016 but it wasn't until this year that our friendship grew closer. Aaron truly carries a familial vibe. One that reminds me of a distant relative who's always present in family reunions and occasions. Though we aren't directly blood-related, to me he has been a brother whom I consider family. Every time his name comes up in a conversation with friends who knew him from way back, there is a common denominator. Either he has been consistently present in all of their milestones or he has been a reliable source of guidance. Aaron holds wisdom that is tested through time and integrity of relationships he held on. This reflects the character he possesses; honesty, loyalty, and teachability that preserves his long-standing relationships. This is why those who he grew up with are seeking after his counsel. Aaron cares about being at peace and at reconciliation just as much as he values every person he comes across. He is not afraid to be in a vulnerable and uncomfortable situation, nonetheless, it challenges him. These challenges cause him to innovate towards his craft when it comes to writing, artistry, and art of making coffee as a barista, musician, and wordsmith. More than that, his ability to lead by example shows how he is willing to take the hit in able to maintain the bond of people he freely serves. His service has always been about creating a space where everyone feels included. In our conversation, we unpack the human tendencies that push the envelope of knowing somebody to loving people without compromise, whether it's in the workforce, within the sphere of influence or with customers.

Gino and I cross paths 2016 when he shared a message at a gathering I helped hosted in San Diego. That same gathering was the same night he met his now-wife, Stephanie. They both have been involved in my life and Erin's. Having witnessed all the transitions and challenges they faced, I am very glad to have Gino as one of the strong men who stood by me even through changes of pace and priorities. Gino's strong conviction in taking the risk to exemplify leadership trumps the common misconception and fears that surround a leader. A wordsmith, eloquent in speech and a man who's words cuts through ideology and forms dissolution, in efforts to maintain the unity within the body of faith. In pursuit of raising up men to become leaders of one mind in Jesus, Gino and his wife Steph not only took the unpopular route but also the unpredictable life of a full-time missionary. His ministry work flourished through years of gathering believers in the faith through facilitating online connection, studies, and leading a movement of Biblically rooted men and women. His passion to pursue ministry is at the heart of being a son and a father. From the most painful event to the newness that now comes from holding his own son, Gino relives both his dream of being a father and a minister; all came with a sacrifice. Leaving San Diego and moving to Europe may be daunting but his calling and his 'why' tested through time showed that it was meant to build up his character. In this conversation, Gino taught me great lessons that put everything in perspective of what discipleship and Christian faith looked like from First Century Believers to 21st Century Christians.
