Show notes
According to the Coalition to Stop Violence Against Women, native women face murder rates at ten times the national average, making it their third leading cause of death. Mikaela Ramsey, Isabel Barnidge, and Emma Dudrick investigate this phenomenon, uncovering the facts about Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW), the motivations behind such malice, and paths forward to address this challenge. Join them to learn why this uphill battleground is so steep.
Season one of Naïveté involves the exploration of a class of settler students at the University of Notre Dame, situated on the traditional lands of the Pokagon Band of the Potowatomi, into the modern life and experience of Native Americans (not to mention all of the histories they were never taught). This series helps them overcome some of their naïveté about indigenous communities. They invite you to join them in their education.
