This had the potential to be great. There are good tidbits in here pertaining to writing, but I just can’t get through them talking only about their own novel issues and other random banter. It would be a lot more interesting to me if it was planned with subjects pertaining to all mom writers, rather than just following along their personal edits. Too bad because I love listening to her voice; for some reason it reminds me of Drew Barrymore.

The first episode I listened to began with about 7 minutes of the host recounting her travel woes while stuck in an airport. I think that stuff should be edited out. I gave up after 7 minutes of that topic.

The episodes are informative, entertaining, and they offer great insight into the book coaching process. I love hearing Jennie’s expertise and encouragement, and both Abby and Mel are smart, funny, and inspiring. I particularly admire them for sharing the real, raw, week-in-and-week-out work that goes into getting their writing done. Thanks, ladies! You’re all awesome!

I’ve binge listened to every episode over the past couple of weeks and have really enjoyed the journey that Abby and Mel are in, and the many important lessons from Jennie.

I love this podcast. The two YA writers and the coach/editor are fun and the information about writing is sterling. Particularly recommended for parents and grandparents who write.

I'm way long past having kids at home, but I am writing a book, and I am learning SO much from these conversations with Jenny about the process. Meanwhile it's exciting to watch two books take shape and although neither is my genre of choice, you can bet I'll be buying and reading them. Each of these three women is very real and fun to spend time with.

Who looks forward to Mondays? I do! Now that I have my favorite podcast waiting for me! Listening to Jennie, Abby and Mel is like sitting down with my best friends once a week. They get me..and they get the struggles that every writer goes through, the doubt, the confusion, the feeling of toiling all alone to pour your heart out on the page. Every epidsode provides me with some kind of breakthrough, or Ah Ha moment, or "Oh my God..I've gone through the same exact thing!" experience. Jennie's expertise is invaluable and Abby and Mel's willingness to let the rest of us see the messy, human, demanding process of writing a book firsthand is so inspiring. Thanks for letting us all have a seat at your table ladies!

I learned about this Podcast from KJ at #AmWriting and am so glad I did. Jennie Nash is part magician and part therapist in the way that she she helps Abby and Melanie dive into their writing. They all have a great chemistry together and make getting all the information fun.

The advice in this podcast is so helpful and rock solid, but I can barely even listen to this show because the production quality is so bad. I understand that because they're recording their coaching calls, they won't always have the most professional quality. But every single episode has horribly distracting background noise. The volume difference between the three hosts is nearly unbearable, and the show is poorly organized. Why on earth do half the episodes end mid-sentence?! If you want to split one conversation into two or three podcasts, then take thirty seconds to create a brief end to the podcast that wraps things up before jumping into the next one. And yes, I think we can all understand technical difficulties, but it often seems like the hosts didn't even try to edit out technical issues. This podcast could be SO much more helpful for people if they took very simple actions to make this easier to listen to. I still listen to it when I'm out of all my other writing podcasts, but as it stands, I can't recommend it to anyone else.

I’m really enjoying listening along to Abby and Mel’s process and feel like I’m learning a lot. Other listeners to #AmWriting with Jess & KJ might like this show too. It would be great to hear you all define terms a little more- I’ve been hearing about the “Two Tier Outline” for weeks, but today’s episode was the first where I got a sense of what that actually looks like (I wasn’t sure what the two tiers even were till today, and that info came midway through the episode!). Keep it up!! Loving the show.

I love this podcast! Lots of good tips for writers, and it's super down to earth--never makes me feel like they're all professionals and I'm an amateur. Feels like having friends in the writing trenches with you. Great job, guys!

I'm loving your podcast and want to comment that not only Mom Writes but Gramma Writes too! As a young-thinking grandmother, I face many of the challenges that you young mothers do. I may not have little ones running around all the time but between exercise, church activities, part-time work, and yes----babysitting---finding time to write is always challenging. Life is like our closets: We fill up whatever is available! Thanks for your chatty, upbeat, and informative podcast. My hats are off to you young mothers for jumping on this bandwagon early. Remember to give us grandmothers who might listen a shout out now and then!

I love this podcast. Abby and Mel are Real and relatable. Jennie Nash, of Author Accelerator, gives advice that’s gold while not beating around the bush. I’ve worked with Jennie and her team and they are the best. If you want to write, but also finish what you start, they should be your go to book shepherds. Can’t wait for more episodes.

As someone who has been writing for seven years and still does not have an agent, I wish that the Mom Writes podcast had been around earlier in my journey. There are so many things you need to get right in a manuscript to pique the interest of readers and publishers: a great concept, endearing characters, fast action, great description, and more. Everyone’s good at something, but everything? Mom Writes deals head-on with why writing a book looks easier than it is and why writers should not feel bad about the fact that they struggle with getting all the components of story together on their own. Jennie Nash, a published author, an instructor at the UCLA Writing Extension Program, and the founder of Author Accelerator, a book coach company, critiques the pages of two writer moms, Abby and Mel. She describes what is going wrong in their stories and suggestions solutions. The problems Abby and Mel face are ones experienced by most writers so the podcast listener can easily go through the points in these critiques and consider whether they apply to their own writing. Even better, they can discuss these podcasts with their writing group and look for these points in each other’s work! We would all love Jennie as our very own book coach! But lacking that, Mom Writes provides struggling writers with encouragement to keep going and great insight into what frequently goes wrong with stories and how to fix them. I highly recommend it!

I am not writting a book but my 5 year old daughter loves to write stories so I am listening for her. I haven't listen to all of them yet but I find them very inspiring. learning about the world of writting I never knew about.

I'm not a podcast listener, but I really love Abby's witty sense of humor pertaining to raising small kids AND focusing on writing! It's refreshing, honest, and really makes me think. I find such encouragement in their dialogue among Abby, Mel, and Jennie. Afterwards, I want to go and write. It's that inspirational...and truly necessary.

I love the humor, the candor, the advice. From people who really get it. I've been wondering what's wrong with me, that I can't get my book written and be a good parent at the same time, and these women are here to address that fear and say YOU CAN. AND they give you advice on how to do it. What could be better than that?! Every episode I listen to, I think, "Oh, that was my favorite episode so far!" And then I listen to the next one. And it just keeps getting better. And Abby, I love the fact that while I'm still drinking in the evening, I'm at least at home and thinking about writing instead of in the bars. LOL!

Fun – compelling – intelligent. You don’t have to be a mom or a writer to get great takeaways from this podcast. The themes discussed in Mom Writes apply to all creatives and anyone who has a dream they are working towards. I’m a dad, and I’m not currently a writer. Yet the podcast really resonated with me. I highly recommend giving Mom Writes a listen. Actively listen to the episodes. There’s a very good chance that something in there will change your life.

Mom Writes is such a refreshing new podcast on the scene. It's raw and real and talks about real fears and issues related to writing and parenting. I love being able to hear directly from a renowed book coach and seeing an authentic exchange of information from expert to newbie. So much fun!

I love the helpful tips that come organically through these conversations...and my new mantra is: WRITE FOR THE SHREDDER!
