In this episode of Mission Statements, Allen Perry and host Andy Katz have a great time talking with Mr. Freeze, of the Rock Steady Crew. The ‘breakdance scene’ from the 1983 movie ‘Flashdance’ brought us together, 40 years after the filming, and Mr. Freeze recounts his memories of filming the groundbreaking dance sequences. Allen had visited the site several years ago, in Pittsburgh’s Strip District, and Andy followed in his footsteps, earlier this year. This discussion was a rare opportunity to directly connect with pop-culture greatness, and document one of our collaborative missions to find an elusive location. Delta Bravo Boston! Episode 023 of MISSION STATEMENTS: A DBUET Podcast is now available on all platforms. The awesome Joseph W. Kelly and Danny Johnson are the guests on this episode. We met up a few weeks back in Boston to hit locations, then met up with Fred Nowosielski, Jimmy Granara, and Tim True at Ernesto's Pizza in Somerville. Joseph, being a lifelong Boston native, he offered to pick us up from my hotel at 7:30am on Saturday morning. We ripped through the city and before 3pm, we accomplished more than if I was there by myself for three days, all while giving us a history lesson and bringing us to spots that weren't on my list of spots to hit. An awesome Saturday with Joe, then myself and Danny met up on Sunday and smashed even more. We discuss the ins and the outs of both days along with the meet-up at Ernesto's with the other team members. Just a fun weekend that will happen again in a couple of months, for sure. Episode 022 of Mission Statements with special guest host Andrew Katz. His guest is the legendary photographer David Corio along with director Nick Light. Andy goes way back into the beginning of David's incredible career from the beginning when he first got into photography at the age of fourteen. Amazing stories about taking photos of Bob Marley in 1980 while being chest deep in a lake shortly after Joe Jackson was hit in the chest by a dead duck somebody threw at him. They go into the Cold Chillin' photo shoot and how easy it was to shoot the late, great Biz Markie in 1988. Covering how Andy met up with David in London and the uncomfortable circumstances that started that meeting. So much was covered here with awesome stories throughout this show. Super entertaining. My guest on Episode 021 is Academy Award Winning Makeup & Effects Artist, John Caglione, Jr. He won the Academy Award for makeup for "Dicky Tracy" (1990), he created Heath Ledger's Joker makeup for "The Dark Knight", he's pretty much Al Pacino's go-to guy, working on everything from "Donnie Brasco", "Insomnia", "Paterno", "Heat", "The Irishman", "Hunters" (Pacino TV Series) and others. From his beginnings working on Saturday Night Live to cult horror movies such as "Basket Case" and "C.H.U.D." to "Quest for Fire", "Amistad" and "The Departed", not to mention a couple episodes of "The Sopranos".
