Mama Knows Nada The Ayurvedic Approach with Alyssa from Wellness with Fill Your Cup Birth + Wellness
Ayurvedic medicine has been practiced for thousands of years and principles of it are beginning to become more prominent in daily life. Ayurveda comes from the Sanskrit words "ayur," meaning life, and "veda," meaning science or knowledge. In essence, Ayurveda is the "knowledge of life."
I chatted with Ayurvedic practitioner and doula, Alyssa Megeath of Fill Your Cup Birth and Wellness, to get a better understanding in to the history of Ayurveda, as well as what the practice entails. Her own background in bio-chemistry prompted her path to these wellness customs.
We discuss how nutrition is a huge factor in preparing for and recovering from birth and how this fundamental process seems to be forgotten. While Alyssa focuses on maternal care, she shares how the Ayurvedic approach has healing principles that are accessible to everyone, applicable and beneficial in daily health outside of pregnancy and postpartum.
