
LTG Nadja West is currently the 44th U.S. Army Surgeon General and Commanding General of the U.S. Army Medical Command. She is the first African-American Army Surgeon General, the first African-American female active-duty major general and the highest ranking female officer to have graduated from the United States Military Academy. Alix Idrache was born with humble beginnings in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. Inquisitive at an early age, he found his way through science and mathematics. With his father's insistence, education would be the key to success. Little did Alix know, in the next few years, he would receive an opportunity to immigrate to the United States, join the Maryland National Guard as an enlisted Soldier, obtain an appointment to the United States Military Academy, serve as a Regimental Commander, graduate with honors in physics, and commission as an Army aviator.
